"I remember sitting at my desk, staring out of the window. 
The music was buzzing in the background. 
It was raining lightly, but thundering loudly.

I couldn't organize my thoughts. My Apple Music was shuffling through songs.

Khruangbin’s White Gloves is the song that caught my attention. It was playing at that specific moment.  Louie had introduced me to the band a few weeks back.

All the tears I held in all those years came pouring out. I couldn't control them.

After about a solid hour of crying and listening to White Gloves on repeat, I walked downstairs and Kobe (my golden retriever)  followed.  As soon as I opened the door to the master bedroom, I broke down again I couldn't stop thinking about her, and us.  I dropped to the floor. I remember Kobe sitting next to me watching me cry.

Lying there, I could only think about the good times we had shared. I knew it was the end since I had no intention of reaching out to the only person I had ever felt comfortable enough showing this side of me.  

One memory kept popping into my head. It was a Jay-Z concert we had attended.  We both loved Jay-Z. We grew up listening to his music, it brought us closer together.   The specific song I kept hearing was Big Pimpin.

At this point I couldn't cry anymore and I had to express what I was feeling somehow.  I head back upstairs I turned off “white gloves,” opened up Ableton.  This is it."

Residing in the Netherlands, Jonathan Tan AKA Wantigga, has been making beats in his hometown Deventer since he was a boy. Growing up in a churchgoing household, he was raised with lots of gospel, soul and jazz music. As an autodidact, he taught himself to play several instruments, but his interest turned quickly to electronic music and hiphop.
