The bass lines groove along providing the feel of the heart, as guitars cascade melodies from the heavens, while world percussion instruments percolate rhythms of indigenous culture. Matt plays a plethora of contemporary and world instruments and musics. Matt plays Electric bass (Fender Jazz, and Warwick Dolphin) for the modern styles of contemporary jazz, funk, rock, and pop, as well as the many Brazilian styles, while the acoustic upright bass covers the need for traditional jazz and swing music. The unique baby bass, or electric upright bass is reserved for one of Matt's specialties; Salsa and latin jazz. Matt enjoys the collaborative artistic effort as a dance accompanist, playing guitar and percussion for Modern, improv and Tap dance classes. Matt's solo playing is equal to his ensemble playing, and through his commanding skills of sight reading, improvisation, and adaptability he continuously demonstrates the highest level of musicianship.
