At least! Here comes Smogo's debut EP on his own imprint, 6 years after the beginning of the label. With a blend of dark drum'n'bass vibes, trancy rhythms and heavy percussions, the Marseille-based producer is exploring wild territories of modern underground dance music. For this first release on the catalogue, he conveys two heavy figures of the french scene : Slowglide and Drawbridge, each one going one step beyond with their slow-trance interpretation of Vocifer and the intense, rumbling remix of Narcopirate.

OK EG, AKA Lauren Squire and Matthew Wilson, take intrepid recce’s on a Kalahari debut of fathoms-deep techno minimalism and opiated braindance styles. 

With release titles like ‘Intertidal zone', 'Anther' and 'Prismatic Spring’, their ambition to evoke natural worlds is evident. But these tracks aren’t of this planet. Navigating truly alien terrain, ‘Rivulets’ finds the duo imagining uncharted environments into existence through the medium of analogue hardware. 

This is very much an album of two halves; the first on heads-down tips aimed straight at the dancefloor, with a second plate that veers further into abstraction. That said, they’re all the kind of far-reaching explorations where close listening yields great rewards. 

Between ‘Oxygen Channel’’s cavernous throb and the dub techno-leaning ‘Circular Arc’, the Antipodean duo set their stall out with a widescreen sense of space. Then, ’Rivulets’ comes in strong with the spiralling, trance-inducing gear. Stripped-back, no fuss; proper live improv techno for the most inquisitive souls.

Sending signals into the endless expanse, the second half is a demonstration of OK EG’s versatility. Where ‘Surface System’ and ‘Matched Grip’ further indulge dubby tendencies, ‘Flow Regime’ and closing gambit ‘Endless River’ traverse dreamlike dimensions through breaks and flow state IDM.

Presenting ‘Lotus Island EP’ by Forest on Stasys, a record that seamlessly weaves through the tapestry of the deep techno landscape. We kick off with the title track, ‘Lotus Island,’ a hypnotic journey characterised by rolling percussion and menacing synths. Feral then adds his reconstruction, plunging the listener into a dark, swampy realm, reimagining the original with his unique signature sound.

Next up is ‘Torre De Alquimia,’ a spacious, haunting track that rolls through techno terrains with an enigmatic allure, evoking a sense of mystery and suspense throughout. Closing the EP is ‘Prism of Nature,’ a brighter, melodic workout that serves as a serene conclusion to this wonderfully deep record.

Forest On Stasys - Lotus Island EP (SL011)

In 2023, Wellen.Brecher’s „Tierisch Verboten“ became some sort of hymn for the movement fighting for inclusion and diversity. „Was muss man denn machen, um dazuzugehören? - what do you have to do to be part of it?“ was the key question of the song. With „KAPUTT“ the band seems to have reached a new level of self-confidence. They aren’t asking for directions anymore, they are taking their place, destroying everything that is and ever has been, making space for the rise of something new. Punk in its purest form - a true strike of liberation.

KAPUTT is going to be part of the album Wellen.Brecher are currently working on, which will be released at the end of 2024. The present single release includes remixes by the master of destruction The Horrorist himself, who turned the original into a 90s rave techno version. Irish canon Senator tweaked and distorted the original until it came out as a mix bred of Major Rush and Green Velvet. Ricci d’Hoyerswerda worked the vocals into a hi-energy ghetto track. JP Toulouse - also member of the Ick Mach Welle crew - delivered an EDMish remix, that will work well on all bigger floors. Peaktime galore! WELLEN.BRECHER is an inclusive band project, currently consisting of Werner Soyeaux aka Bläck Dävil, Uwe Locati aka DJ Locati, Dave Senan aka Senator and Hanni from the German punk band Pisse. With an extensive hardware setup consisting of numerous drum machines, grooveboxes, synthesizers and a microphone, they create something that could be described as experimental rave techno: danceable, but unpredictable at the same time, presented with a large dose of fun and humour.

Even a historical pandemic couldn't take summer hits away from our hearts. Exceptional circumstances means extraordinary compilation.

Worst Records' hall of fame welcomes new faces around the pool for a 13-stages enlightened drama. You'll meet again with the top 3 podium made of A Strange Wedding, Jacques Satre and Christian Coiffure, all rensponsible for our first three releases, building up a mesmerizing, out of season mental workout. Extending the dimension of trance towards Saint-Etienne, Del.Duc brings on a curious yet serene astral travel, and we can also count on the distant reinforcements from the Toulouse Gouffre Club crew with Jan Loup and her glitch spangled hazy dub from far futures and the new trance comer from Bordeaux, Lazuli.
Special friends are also gathering here, as Myako is sewing on thin fabric a vaporous dub in shades of grey, the one-and-only master touki Théo Muller delivers a cinematic remedy to confinement.
Liberation through hearing, it is, as borders explode with the presence of many : Yin Yang Audio in a transatlantic IDM/break jump, Forest on Stasys (aka Mental Resonance) and his tough shamanic dance, Clemens Friedrich slowing down all senses at once and JEANS, boss of Oracle Bones, speeding us up in the hyperloop.
Finally, as teamwork means a lot, we have given the pleasure to open this compilation to the four-headed Lausanne/Freiberg hydra 4POTR and their cryptic transdimensional message, and the honor of closing this pool party to the 404 trio gem from Candoblé with a fine piece of wonder.

Not exactly your usual summer compilation, nor the hits you could imagine, but surely the music you'll need under the hot sun of 2020.
