The ocean has always held a special place in my heart. It brings me a tremendous amount of peace every time I’m lucky enough to sit at its shores or immerse myself in its powerful currents and waves. Though it always amazes me how something so beautiful could have so much destructive power. The ocean is a great example (for me) of something I truly have absolutely no power over. When I get in the ocean, I’m pretty much signing a waiver that says she can do with me as she pleases…

“Lost at Sea” was originally a poem before I made it into this song.

Salt winds on the skin of the ocean,
Cast out on the sea for a day,
She moves with a powerful motion,
Feeding you to the mouth of the bay,

The hard dock greets you with warmth,
A sturdy and trusty friend,
It’s legs reach down like an anchor,

Lost at Sea

When Sandy and I originally started this project, our intention was to get together regularly to write, collaborate, and play music without any other motives. It was clear that we both were looking for something new, a different way to express ourselves creatively. 

	Our only requirement was to create something that excited us both. Something that was not only revitalizing to listen to but also exciting to perform and create in the moment.

	As we explored our shared love for instrumental electronic music, programmed rhythms, acoustic-based compositions and the beautiful imperfections that happen during live creation, we landed on an exciting new concept that gave us life.

	The Pennington Sessions give a glimpse of what’s to come from me and Sandy: a new approach to composition through experimentation, improvisation and live mixing.

Try Something New

I'm the kind of person who has a really hard time relaxing (as crazy as that sounds). I feel the constant need to be doing something... all the time! Over the past decade of my life, I feel as though I've tried my best to work really hard at what I love, but I have the tendency to fall into an "all or nothing" style of thinking which has resulted in me burning out... a couple times.

"Take a Minute" is a reminder to myself to seek balance in my life, slow down, and accept the fact that sometimes, it's really just time to let things go and move on to the next chapter of our lives. The song represents the blissful and hopeful feelings of coming to the realization that it's time to make a change, and rather than looking upon the past as a bad thing (regardless of what happened), understanding that it was ultimately a catalyst for growth that has brought us to where we are today. And in that, holding hope for the future and gratitude for everything that has happened ("good" and "bad").

In a world so divided, where everyone seems to think they know the answer to everything, "I Don't Know" speaks to the idea that maybe the best place to start is from a place of curiosity and seeking to understand rather than to be understood. 

If there happened to be a theme song for "Garden Street: The Upside", this would be it. 

Just give it time and the chance to grow. The more I learn, the less I know.

Exploring the complexity of life choices, Warren Thomas Fenzi challenges any clear line between generalities, inner truth and self doubt. Suspended, he peers into a looking glass, exploring the possibility that what we believe to be legitimate and authentic, may not be so. While inviting his listeners on a journey of introspection, Fenzi fosters an ongoing curiosity and examination of the emotional disunion we often find ourselves in with “Garden Street,” his new, upcoming dual-album release.

Taking the listener one step farther along a pictorial musical path that explores the duality of life, Fenzi reaches for the rich fabric of diversity, dissonance, harmony and the thin line we all walk between The Upside and The Downside. With each song from both projects being released singularly, Fenzi underscores his distinct style of songwriting. As a multi-instrumentalist, he continues his explorations in sound and songwriting with what has become his unique approach to cinematic, musical storytelling.

I Don't Know

“Honey” tells the story through the eyes of an individual caught up in a toxic relationship with someone in the grips of their alcoholism/addiction. Staying up, late nights, waiting for their lover to come home, only to be met by a drunken, stumbling mess, pushes our narrator to the brink.
