Warsonic - Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeah's Cover)

The brother and sister duo at the core of Warsonic, Oskar and Sonia, come to us direct from Poland, via Boston, New York, London and Oxford, too -- all different realities that the young siblings have lived in in the last few years as their paths led to their real musical home -- Warsonic.
Warsonic's name is a play on their home town, Warsaw, a city that's survived many battles.
Working in New York with producer Ron Haney drew them more firmly to the electro-dance sounds that pulse through Warsonic's new songs (mixed by Alex Aldi, known for his work with Passion Pit, Holy Ghost!), all composed in the last year. 
"Our songs sound happy, but I also hear something confused and nostalgic in them," explains Sonia. "We try to balance the lightness of pop melodies inspired by great 80‘s pop songs with the depth of vintage synth sounds and lyrics which always have a certain longing for a more permanent place, more certainty." 
Yet Warsonic use their roots to tune into the widest possible world. "We used to call our band Third Culture Kids and it's an idea that still means a lot to us," adds Oskar, as Sonia nods in agreement. Third Culture Kids, a concept developed in the 1950s, refers to young people who spend their childhood living in different countries and foreign cultures - in effect they often find more in common with other third culture kids than their own passport nationals. "So when we go to what's supposed to be 'home'," Oskar continues, "it can take a minute to settle back in! Sometimes we feel like citizens of everywhere and nowhere - we’re moving constantly"
That's certainly true of Warsonic, right now. They are internationalists, trans-cultural communicators. Oskar says, "We call ourselves Warsonic because we don't want to lose touch with where we're from. A lot of people disappear from Poland looking for a better life, but we want to stay connected. We want to build a bridge from Warsaw to the world."
Warsonic's music will be available as an E.P in early 2012.
