@souqrecordss' latest release comes from NAKRIZ, a Syrian trio of classically trained musicians, a live electronic brand of whirling tones and tastes. Reinterpreting a folk song named "Moniety", originating form the east side of Syria, Al Raqqah city. In their interpretation, Nakriz infuse the traditional lyrics & instrumentations with electronic influences from their new home Berlin. conveying their vision of a modern wedding rave. This remix comes as a first collaboration between Boshoco, now a solo project, and Nakriz, a Syrian band located in Germany. Boshoco deconstructs “Moniety” into a dance-floor acid mix that would make the bears dance, as we would say in Arabic.

DABAKA is a musical project that brings together Lebanese and Syrian artists around an audio-visual performance.

Revisiting the folkloric dabkeh, a dance and musical practice emerging from the Levantine’s common heritage, the artists joined their passion and talent to reclaim its place within a contemporary context.

The project hopes to encourage more dialogue between artists on the cultural scene and to foster a greater understanding of the unique role art can play in bringing people together.

DABAKA is funded and supported by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
