Milford is one of the monikers of the veteran artist José Castillo from Madrid, where he shows us his more techno side, clearly oriented to Detroit and which has made him one of the main djs of this sound in the capital of Spain.

As a dj he started his career in 1996, highlighting his residencies in Cool and Stromboli Café and being a regular in clubs like Deep, Weekend and Pachá among others. On an international level, his two residencies at Mascara and Chervilo, mythical clubs in the Bulgarian capital, where he shared a booth with great artists such as Josh Wink, Halo Vargas, Dj Maestro and Kevin Yost, among others. We should also mention his performances at Crystal Club Istanbul, Micro Club Brighton and The Egg in London.

His facet as a producer begins in 2010, signing his works as Wassabbe, editing in labels like Complex Textures, Delikat Recordings, Medicine Musiqué and P21 Label. In 2015 he signs his first references as Milford, in the London label Moveubabe and Elastic Beatz and Ante Recordings from USA. His next work will be released in January 2020 on Chapter Records, with an additional remix by the Spanish techno master Tadeo. Milford also owns the Gladio Operations label where he edits under his electro alias UHF.

As a promoter, his first adventure was Spectrum Nights, monthly sessions held at Oui club, Café la Palma and Siroco from 2005 to 2009, mostly featuring artists from Madrid's underground scene. In 2015 he joined BlueTrain Sessions, creating various events in Siroco club, Berlin Café until 2017, when he left BlueTrain to found his own event platform Holy Crap!

Today we are bringing a serious techno podcast, exclusively made by the shadowy artist José Castillo - as his doppelganger known as Milford, in which he features a strongly rooted and mesmerizing selection of techno tracks from talented artists. He do so by contrasting a combination of modern and classic techno atmospheres, that has imbedded hipnotic, gnarly and darksided sounds as one would expect when listening to this style, but the extra layer of diligence and proficient technicity is a testament of his curating skills, taking the listening experience to a whole new level.

José Castillo was born in Madrid - Spain, on 9th of November 1975. He began mixing cassettes with his Ghettobluster, this entertained him a lot, and it was a chance for him to be introduced into the spinning world, this, together with his experience during a summer in the Balearic Islands in 1989. This was very useful for him because it actually was where he recieved his first influence in the electronic music, this style was Chicago House, more known as Chi-Town Music in the U.S.A, with leading producers such as Joe Smooth, Adonis, Armando, Lil’ Louis, Gene Hunt, Ron Trent and Detroit producers as Derrick May, Blake Baxter, Kevin Saunderson and Mad Mike(Underground Resistance). Later in 1993-94 the arrival of a new wave from Europe, more precisely from Germany and Belgium, with labels like R&S, Harthouse, Superstition, Dance Opera, Disko B, Music Man and Transmat(Detroit). That sound made him fall in love entirely with this music and this marked the beginning of his artistic enrollment as a Dj completely at the end of 1994. 

His first perfomances as Dj were in the middle of 1995 at private and beach parties, and since then he has been playing in some of the best clubs in Spain like Pacha, Stromboli Café, Torero Dance Floor, Res Club, Empire, Gold, Deep, Babylon Club, Siroco, Weekend, Cool, Ohm, Shabay and has played in international clubs in countries like UK (London & Brighton), Turkey (Instanbul), Portugal (Lisbon), and Bulgaria (Sofia, Burgas & Pleven).

His facet as a composer/producer started in 2010 with a project called Wassabbe next to Mike Gómez, signing  tracks on Delikat Recordings and Complex Textures from Germany, Medicine Musiqué from Italy and some releases in Spanish labels like P21 and Bit to Bit Records. In 2015 he signs his first references as Milford, in the British label Moveubabe, and later in American labels such as Elastic Beatz and Ante Recordings. Milford also owns the Gladio Operations label, where he releases under his Electro alias UHF in conjunction with Spanish artist David Aragón. Their first single was released in 2014 in a compilation for the thirtieth anniversary of “Madrid City Breaker” in which appears illustrious producers from the Electro scene such as ERP, Luke Eargoggle, Boris Divider among others, and his next work was released on Borg Recordings from UK.

His latest release was in january 24th, 2020 on Chapter Records, with an additional remix by the Spanish Techno master Tadeo. Chapter Podcast Series 11 Milford

Project from Madrid Spain born February 2010 and formed by José Castillo and Mike Gómez. They make house tunes with a high influence in Chicago and Detroit electronic sounds. Actually they have a few releases in labels such as Delikat Recordings, Medicine Musique and some remixes in Spanish's labels such as P21 records and his most recent “Orange In Love“  for T3R Records. 
Wassabbe appear in various compilations like “Under The Surface“ of Mood Indigo, “Elfenstaub, Vol. 15“ of City Life Records and “From Chicago To Detroit, Vol. 5“ from german label Complex Textures.
Their next release “Altered Space“ is coming on Bit to Bit Records for September of 2015.
