Phobiq Recordings keep our eyes on them again, this time announcing a special, more experimental edition of underground Techno. Nikola Gala makes his full debut with Siren EP cleverly noding to the dark side. Nikola has a proven record of succesful releases with Rekids, Plastic City, Suara, Freerange and Ibadan and continues to excite us with his depth of production and sharp tech edge .In Siren EP he uses his own qualitative way and reaches out once more to a slightly different yet pure techno audience. 
Things get started with title track Siren where echoing vocal chops announce departure. Sirens, barking chords and a perfect rolling snare build up tension, reaching progressively to the peak. Nikola utilises each element of the track to devastating effect creating a deep, evolving techno monster here. 
The Timeis laced with discordant riffs and a distinct detuned stab enhancing the haunted atmospherics. 
Atonal synths and a male vocal stab rasp away before he brings it all in together. A persisant ascending string melody and beautifully opened hihats on top perfect this beauty! 
Gossipstarts us off with a raw low bass before a hypnotizing high piched synth stab takes action. Cricketing percussions and staccato chops indulge you to follow the rhythm while sparse closed hihats play the game bringing graciously all elements together! 
In Germanium cavernous bass and marching drums set the tone while a warm tech synth fills in and out. Smooth continuous razor sharps make every techno audience to keep heads down religiously on this one! 
Diode boasts beautiful horn stab manipulation while flangering, echoing notes knit a serious groove and show us Nikolas acute eye to production detail.

This EP could easily be titled &#8220;The Many Flavors Of Taste Peter&#8221; as he effortlessly rolls out a variety of styles in this four-tracker. 
 The journey begins with the aptly titled &#8220;Devil Chords&#8221; where we are quickly introduced to thick, mutating chords which are clearly taking the center stage here. An extra set is further applied, seamlessly leading the way to a breakdown fortified by an intense breakdown. 
 On the title track, Taster Peter nods firmly to Detroit with classic, subtle stabs and a nostalgic arpeggio just grazing the surface over the shuffling hats. This one is clearly a number where the melodic elements do the talking. In dubspeeka&#8217;s rendition we a get a meatier version, with emphatic drums taking control while still maintaining the spacey vibe. 
 Closing up, &#8220;Nocturne&#8221; is a subliminal ride in the night (obviously), with sonars going off at all angles, and eerie effects teaming up with tense atmospherics to keep us on our toes. The low end rumble and intricate drum programming make sure that everyone is moving to the dark beat.

This record was produced by Kerri Chandler as start capital for Jerome Sydenham’s Ibadan label, but subsequently released and sold by another label to the tune of 40,000 copies without Chandler and Sydenham ever knowing. Resplendent with horns, lush strings and layered house beats, it is irrefutably timeless, taking its place among the most captivating dance tracks of past decades.

Kerri Chandler - Atmospheric Beats (Original Extended Version)

Dub remixes of one of Ibadan's greatest moments from Jerome and Kerri.

'You're In My System' from The System a.k.a Jerome Sydenham and Kerri Chandler, is one of the most recognized Ibadan releases. The sultry males vocals, pristine beats and perfect arrangement make it one of the most sought after releases in the catalog. Although these both appear on the original 12”, these re-mastered maxi versions are still essential.

Kerri's Foundation Dub is a tried and true instrumental version of the original. However, the lack of vocals only puts more focus on the uplifting, escalating and driving horn section.

On the flip Kerri and Jerome's pure DJ version 'Jerome's Runaway Dub' is fully equipped with juicy 909 hats and crackling snares while adding more emphasis to the bass line through extra notes and a grittier analog feel layered on top. An extended breakdown also creates an added element of suspense.

Two solid mixes for the DJ's that are after a piece of House history.

Dutch producer and DJ Reinier Zonneveld is racking up accolades about as fast as new fans are losing their shit to his far reaching beats. Having already released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label and the ever-influential Traum Schalplatten, Zonneveld’s latest, an EP titled Rushchamber, is out on the increasingly important Stil Vor Talent, an imprint run by tastemaker Oliver Koletzki.

The 3-track EP captures the variation Zonneveld is known for and kicks off with “Sharp Bust,” a careening, pure techno number with detuned horns and whirring rushes. The titular track 2, “Rushchamber,” weaves in groovier house influences in the beat, and “Flatchat” levels off somewhere in the middle. The collection reflects the wide palate that Zonneveld, who was raised on classical music, brings to the studio.

Yan Cook is back on Silent Steps after a first appearance in 2012 with his hugely acclaimed "X" album.
For this second release Yan cooked us four new and very fresh tracks printed in his very own style that melts big raw kicks and basslines with deep atmospheres.
The whole EP has a real mental dimension and is as good for the feet, throught energic percussion patterns, as for the mind with some hypnotic synthetic experiments.

In July 1518, residents of the city of Strasbourg (then part of the Holy Roman Empire) were struck by a sudden and seemingly uncontrollable urge to dance.

The hysteria kicked off when a woman known as Frau Troffea stepped into the street and began to silently twist, twirl and shake. She kept up her solo dance-a-thon for nearly a week, and before long, some three-dozen other Strasbourgeois had joined in.

By August, the dancing epidemic had claimed as many as 400 victims.
With no other explanation for the phenomenon, local physicians blamed it on “hot blood” and suggested the afflicted simply gyrate the fever away.

A stage was constructed and professional dancers were brought in. The town even hired a band to provide backing music, but it wasn’t long before the marathon started to take its toll. Many dancers collapsed from sheer exhaustion. Some even died from strokes and heart attacks.

The strange episode didn’t end until September, when the dancers were whisked away to a mountaintop shrine to pray for absolution.
