RENDER RECORDINGS drops its third various artists compilation with some fantastic remixes of some of the label’s best tracks. On the remix duties, we have FunkinRight, SONEK, Mctwist, and RJ Maxwell. FunkinRight took Bright Idea’s track “Glitchin Aboot” and created something extraordinary! FunkinRight’s remix blends rolling glitch hop basslines, funky guitar grooves, and the illest horn lines while staying true to its original flavor. SONEK delivers a fresh new take on FunkinRight’s track “Funky Like.” SONEK mixes thumping breakbeats, growling bass stabs, soulful organs, and funky guitar licks together for a tasty DJ treat. Mctwist flips the script with Pete Wilde’s track “Big Scratchin.” This dope Mctwist breaks remix uses hypnotic vocals, atmospheric guitar lines, proper amen breaks, and massive jungle basslines! RJ Maxwell brings the heat with his remix of Freddy J’s track “Dream- Land.” RJ Maxwell lays down some bouncy beats, arpeggiated synths, bright synth melodies, and Rubix spitting smooth flows. This is a must-have release!

Woofax & Willdabeast have teamed up for a collaboration release out May 12th on Gravitas Recordings.  A blend between live music and electronic engineering, this release is a groovy bass-heavy that merges genres perfectly.  With funky live instruments, glitchy bass design and catchy melodies this EP hits all our sweet spots.  This energetic release is catchy, fun and we can’t get enough of how these two artists blended their sounds to make something special.

Parallel Night opens the EP with live brass instruments and a dreamy soundscape for an epic build into a heavy bass drop that blends flawlessly with the live instrumentation.  A perfect glimpse into the two sounds these two are blending for this release and leaving the listener wanting more.  Merely Players leans more on the bass side of their sound, with captivating vocals and a catchy beat perfect to flow to.  It still brings in their live instrumentation but is no longer the focus of the track, slowly building more and more instruments in as the song progresses.  Getting Busy starts with a hip-hop style build with live flute and male vocals building into a heavy glitch-hop drop with perfect horn sections over the bass wubs and growls.  Spinnin Up closes the EP with an epic track with heavier growls and bass while still keeping the live instrumentation throughout.  This release is very cohesive and all the tracks blend these styles flawlessly in a fresh new way.

Takimba & Friends had a two hour Live Set at Terrapin Twirl 2024 featuring live musicians sitting in throughout the night as usual. The year is 2019, human society is teetering on the brink of collapse, a dystopian future is imminent. Since the nuclear war earth has turned into a barren waste land, buildings incinerated to dust, places where rivers once flowed are now only fit for desert wanderers and warriors. A life of love and laughter is now just a distant memory. The new world order has outlawed social gatherings, music is prohibited and freedom of expression is a thing of the past. 

But there is hope, in the dark depths of Brisbane there is a secret oasis, The Wonky Dome. The Wonky Queenslanders are the only community left on earth where love reigns supreme. Inside the Wonky Dome you can dance freely, express yourself without judgement and love whoever, wherever, whenever. However, if the New World Order comes knocking on the doors of the Wonky Dome, be prepared to fight, to the death
