After spending hours in my own crates due to this forthcoming sale, I got inspired, hopped on the decks and rocked a live 90 minute mix of soul, funk, library, jazz, disco, hip-hop, etc. There's joints and genres from all around the world. I went hard (pause) on the doubles at some points, and there's some instrumental/acapella blends up there too… 

This was an spur of the moment practice session that was never to be given to the public, just to listen to later for ideas… no playlists, no preparation… A few mates enjoyed it whom I sent it to and prompted me to get it out there… Please excuse all the sloppy mixes, cuts, etc. I wanted to keep it raw like the mixes of the 90's… feedback is appreciated.

In celebration of Hip Hop's 50th year, we've teamed up with London based ‘Classic Material’ to present a chronologically themed series of mixtapes celebrating the history of recorded Rap music, mixed by Chris Read. Alongside the Hip Hop series, this companion Breaks series takes our re-cap of Rap History a level deeper, this time reconstructing the classics of the Hip Hop canon from their constituent sample material. Arranged chronologically of course, this seventh volume pieces together popular Hip Hop tunes from the year of 1992, utilising only the Funk, Soul, Rock, Jazz and Disco tracks from which they were originally constructed - over 150 breaks in the mix! Artwork pays homage to Paul Winley's iconic 'Super Disco Brakes' compilation series.
