UK producer and musician Hemai put together a cracking mix for us, celebrating the release of his new album for Tru Thoughts.

According to @hemai, “It is a collection of songs which have a place embedded in my heart, all from or inspired by Latin rhythms, dance sequences or low frequency providers. Past and present.”

‘Strange Beauty’ is the debut album from producer and multi-instrumentalist Louie Hemus AKA Hemai. A collection of stories of the love, spirit and balance of the universe, the hotly tipped 22-year-old experiments with the idea of movement and the present, bringing together some of his favourite sounds from around the world and melding them with his UK roots.

Sweet Nothings w/ Jeff - August 2022

I came back the other week with a bag full of records I grabbed while in NYC to play for you all, but that will have to wait. In the past few days, two of the best to ever do it have transitioned after living incredible lives and giving all of us so much music and inspiration - Ahmad Jamal and Ivan "Mamao" Conti. It only felt right to pay tribute to them both on this episode. I tried to play some tunes, especially from Jamal's catalogue, that aren't the big sample-famous ones, but are favorites none the same.

I've done two other mixes dedicated to Jamal in the past, who is my favorite pianist ever, whose music has been so important to me, whose records my dad passed down to me. Admittedly only in more recent years have I become more familiar with Conti's work, and have completely fallen in love with it. 

Salute to these giants!

Before Late August, hadn't been to any record shops or anywhere really since March. Decided to roll out and dodged some literal bullets to get a dig fix. Spent a legendary couple hours visiting Alex G at Wild Prairie just around the corner and then went down to Conservatory Shop to hang with Tone B Nimble.  Thanks again fellas 

I came home and recorded a mix of my finds, couldn't fit everything but here's a 2 hour live mix of some joints. 45s, LPs, 12"s... was a great day copping some new tunes and hanging.
