I’ve been slowly breaking open

A shaking foot in either world
The cruel mundane or the world of creation, the 
one I’ve always wanted
Far from deceitful industry and broken promises from thieves 
Generations of liars who colonize and capitalize and flaunt it

I just want to believe our world can change
As each of us awakes we lay foundation for a reckoning
Borders are man-made which means that they can be unmade
Hold on hold on to hope even though it’s frightening

Like fish don’t see their water
We’re the currency and the product
Don’t you close your eyes for long
Cause when you open them your youth is gone 
And men sell bombs
So war goes on
But this was supposed to be 
A hopeful song

Will my nervous guts and hardened heart 
Soften when transformation starts?
