In 2007 Solarstone and Alucard teamed up for the beautiful track “Late Summer Fields”, a track with vocals from Rich a.k.a. Solarstone himself. I really loved the original version, so when Rich asked me 2 years later if I wanted to remix this one, it was not hard to say “yes”.

My remix of "Late Summer Fields" got requested as Listener's Choice in Corsten's Countdown 368. If you want to purchase this remix (and others), make sure to check the Solarstone remix compilation “Rsemix” from 2009.

ABOUT LIVING ROOM SONGS:

Icelandic contemporary composer Ólafur Arnalds created and released a new song, one per day for one for one whole week during the month of October 2011. The songs were recorded and filmed live in the living room of his Reykjavik apartment and released instantly for free as streamed videos and mp3 downloads.

Living Room Songs will now also be released on CD, Vinyl, Ltd. Special Edition CD &amp; DVD and as High Quality Downloads on December 5th via Erased Tapes.


Following in the spirit of Ólafur Arnalds’ critically acclaimed Found Songs (2009) now comes Living Room Songs. This time Ólafur takes the idea further and invites the audience into the comfort of his living room, where the songs were recorded live and the whole process filmed. The songs were instantly released in form of a free mp3 download and video stream- straight from Ólafur's Reykjavik apartment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: ‘One night I was just playing my piano here in this apartment and I was writing a new song and I didn't have my phone on me which I usually use to record ideas. So I actually took out my MacBook and I didn't want to open like a proper recording program, so I just opened Photo Booth and recorded a video of myself playing the song so that I would remember the song. And I really liked the atmosphere of that video and that's when I thought I should do a series of songs in my living room...’             – Ólafur Arnalds


Born in the suburban Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, a few kilometers outside of Reykjavík, the 24-year old composer has always enjoyed pushing boundaries with both his studio work and his live-shows. Through relentless touring and determination this young artist has steadily gained recognition worldwide since his 2007 debut Eulogy for Evolution. Ólafur Arnalds’ second full-length album ...and they have escaped the weight of darkness, continues his mission to lure an indie-generation of pop and rock fans into an emotive world of beguiling electronic chamber music and delicate classical arrangements. I just tried to translate it bud had to find out that it looses it’s awesomeness when I do it :/

I try to explain in my own words. It is about a boy who can remember the first thing he can remember in his life at all. His mother gave him a sparkler for new years eve. Everyone was on the streets with fireworks and it was loud because of all the explosions. But he was not afraid. He was just a part of this. He hold up his little sparkler and shake it like crazy. So intense as he possibly could or even stronger. And he was so small and the sparkler too. But he experienced the biggest and best there is on earth. He experienced the biggest and most beautiful on earth and he was a part of it. He never did anything in his life again that was so gigantic. 

I choose this vocal because I love the guy! His name isI was Frank Giering. He had such a special sad way of being which I could connect with easily. He is unfortunately dead. He died way to young.
