Singer/songwriter
My first record got picked up by BBC DJ John Peel and a few more records and TV shows followed as well as Radio One sessions. Later, I somehow ended up singing with several U2 tribute bands, including The Doppelgangers, the original of the species, named by Bono, and used by U2 for various events. Zoo 2 and lastly Double U2, probably the best and definately the craziest of the bunch. We started off playing little Irish bars in London and ended up playing big Irish bars in the USA. In between we played all over Europe, the UK and Ireland from small venues to huge festivals. On our last American trip we travelled 3,000 miles by road in order to play 3 shows. We were the most disorganised, maddest band I've ever worked with, but we were once descibed by an American promoter as more Rock'n'Roll than most of the bands in the charts. We had great fun, despite getting run out of a town by the local police and playing Wilmington, NC as it was hit by a force 5 hurricane (12 people turned up that night - including the bar staff). Now I sit at home in relative safety and write songs.
