Chris "The Glove" Taylor worked for a Disco Rental Service before he reached one of the DJ pioneers on the West Coast. Because of the heavy worker Gloves he weared while working, the Disco Manager gave him the DJ Name "The Glove". The Glove and Egyptian Lover were the local DJ´s at the famous Radio Club which later renamed to the Radiotron. Together with Ice T and Super A.J. they formed the Radio Crew. The Crew put out one of the rarest EPs in Hop-Hop history for the documentary "Breaking And Entering" which was produced by Topper Carrew back in 1983 showing the early West Coast Rap and Breakdance Movement. Together with Dave Storrs he made the record "Reckless" for the Breakin movie and "Tibetan Jam" released in 1984. His most famous record as a solo artist is the mixrecord "Itchiban Scratch" released on the Electrobeat label in 1985 which was a instrumental track filled with scratching and samples from young children singing "The Grand of Duke Of York" around a Japanese style theme. He also worked together with Victor Flores for the mixrecords "Breakmixer 1" & "Breakmixer 2" and appeared on the famous Motown hip hop record "Scratch Break" by the Motor City crew. He can be seen on stage with Chaka Khan, Ozone and Turbo performing the song "I feel for your" in 1984.

More recent credits are on Dr Dre's albums "The Chronic" and "The Aftermath" on which he received mixing credits and on The Firm's album as a producer.

A Jewish Bible scholar and an African American pastor joined in an intellectual and spiritual journey of faith and scholarly inquiry.  The result is they say they uncovered the truth about one of the most coveted prayers in the Christian world – the “Lord’s Prayer” and its Hebrew origins.
On a journey to Israel in 2002, Methodist Pastor Keith Johnson, of the Park Avenue Church in Minneapolis, met with world renowned scholar Nehemia Gordon.  This started a long-term relationship and research partnership that resulted in a book A Prayer To Our Father: Hebrew Origins of the Lord’s Prayer.
They discovered a Hebrew version of the Lord's Prayer, preserved by Jewish rabbis for over a thousand years, according to Gordon.  Working from the original languages of early texts, the two men translated the texts and found much commonality in most of the traditional forms of the prayer.
In its early forms, the prayer could have been as easily used in the Jewish faith as in the Christian faith, according to Gordon. They found that the prayer has a universal adherence to tenets in both faiths.
In an interview with WOUB’s Tom Hodson, Gordon described the partnership with Johnson, their work together, and the outcomes of their research.
Gordon holds a master’s degree in Biblical Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.  He has worked as a translator on the Dead Sea Scrolls and as a researcher of ancient Hebrew manuscripts.
Johnson, besides being an elder, also served as chaplain to the Minnesota Vikings and has ministered to top athletes in the NFL and NBA. 
Gordon will be speaking on July 12 at 3:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Ohio.

"My Littlest Witch Kit" and Other New Age MESS With Steven Bancarz

The Unknown DJ, born Andre Manuel, is one of the pioneers of West Coast hip-hop. He started as a DJ back in the early 80´s spinning records in Lonzo´s Eve after Dark. In 1984 he first appeared along with Dr. Dre and Daniel Sofer on the title "Rhythm Rock Rap" puplished on the Saturn Label. Daniel Sofer was the musical mastermind behind this production and shortly after Unknown hired him to work on the first track recorded on his own Techno Hop label called "Beatronic". 

After that Unknown DJ and "Perfect Tommy", which was Daniel Sofers  nickname, produced West Coast Classics like "808 Beats" and "Let´s Jam" together. Darryl Davis aka Lyrrad parted in these productions and did the drawings for the famous picture covers and the Techno Hop Logo. 1986 Unknown DJ produced "6 in the mornin" the first Gangsta Rap with Ice T which was the flipside from "Dog´n the Wax". In 1989 Techno Hop released the last record called "C.M.W - This is Compton". 

1988 Unknown DJ foundet the Techno Kut label which was known for productions like "Basstronic" , "Breakdown", "Unknown´s House" and "X-men series". 

The Unknown DJ continued as a producer for MC Eight's crew Compton´s Most Wanted. He also produced music for artists such as A.L.T., Brownside, H.W.A., Bobby Jimmy, and King Tee.  He gave Yella of the World Class Wreckin Cru his name after a song from Tom Tom Club "Mr. Yellow" and he had idea for the song roaches by Bobby Jimmy and the Critters.

Orginal comment from Unknown: "I conceived, produced, recorded and even did the roach rap on "Roaches" along with Darryl Davis at his home studio after a night of drinking and a phone call to that legend in his own mind Russ Parr (Bobby Jimmy) :+) We gave Russ a few lines and the concept and 5 hours later he and the Critters showed up at Darryl's to drop lyrics on the track he and I made overnight."

Music producer, entertainer, and club owner "Grandmaster" Lonzo began his career in the late 70's forming Z-Car Promotions with Roger Clayton. The two set up events and parties before spliting (Roger would later create Uncle Jamm's Army). Next Lonzo created a disco, funk, and dance mobile DJ party crew called Disco Construction and the Wreckin' Cru. At the same time Lonzo ran several clubs in the South Los Angeles area such as Dooto´s and Eve After Dark.

The establishment of the first large urban independent record manufacturer and distributor, Macola Records, led Lonzo to create Kru Cut Records in 1984 (a Macola Sublabel) and produce electro-rap releases with the  World Class Wreckin' Cru through in the mid 80's. After great success with such singles as "Juice", "Surgery", "Cabbage Patch" and a brief stint on Epic Records, the group members left over financial disputs. However Lonzo enjoyed great revenue from the group's last single, "Turn Off The Lights", which hit big on the pop and urban charts. 

In an effort continue the success of his former group, Lonzo assembled a new Wreckin' Cru and released several compilation albums throughout the 1990's. One of these albums attempted to play off the success of former protege Dr. Dre titled First Round Knock Out. However Lonzo took much heat after being sued by the former Wreckin' Cru member because the release appeared to many as an official Dr. Dre release and contained a controversial unreleased track. 

Recently Lonzo focuses on running his newest club, Club Hall Of Fame, located in Inglewood, California. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tours extensively for public speaking engagements at universities and on entertainment industry panels across the United States and hosts a weekly live call in talk show that boasts a regional viewer-ship of approximately 200,000.

Williams is the Founder of the Hip Hop Hall of Fame and Edutainment Center, creator of the World Class Wreckin' Cru and also known as the “Godfather of West Coast Rap”. During his more than twenty-five plus years in the music industry, Lonzo has helped to structure the futures of some of today’s hottest talents such as Dr. Dre, Battlecat, DJ Rectangle and Ice Cube to mention a few. Currently, he hosts California’s only live call-in television talk show “Issues in the Hood” which airs live in multiple cities. 

Mr. Williams is also in constant demand around the United States as a public speaker and authority on the beginnings of West Coast Hip Hop and has been featured on MTV, VH1, and Los Angeles Times as well as other industry trades such as Source, Vibe etc. Williams was also an integral figure in the best selling music industry documentary “Welcome to Death Row”, an expose on the most news worthy Hip Hop label in the world. His personal goal is to teach not only the ins and outs of performing and song writing, but also encourage entrepreneurship in the youth of today in regards to the music industry and all it has to offer.

William’s newest venture into the mainstream music world is the “Urban Idol” compilation CD for which concept is already achieving industry wide acclaims and landed a major production and distribution agreement via XXX/Navarre. His “Urban Idol” compilation is due to hit the streets First quarter 2005 and will feature both signed and unsigned acts. This unique project actually provides artists both payment and promotion for each track that is accepted for the project. 

Always on the side of the underdog, Williams has assured that prompt and fair payments of royalties from this compilation will be the order of the day.
Reaching out and leading the way is how Williams made his mark in the music industry, with such heartfelt compassion for artists and the will to clear the path of unnecessary obstacles, he will always be considered “The Godfather”. Hacking his way through the jungles and mazes of the music industry he now looks back at the path he worked so hard to clear and smiles as he sees the next generation finally catching up…stay tuned…the story isn’t finished…

JLP | TEXTBOOK Example BUT Powerful Testimony of a Boy Turned Away From His Father

Dave Storrs born in Syracuse New York was moved to the Los Feliz area of Hollywood California at the age of 4.  His early fascination with music and art led him to UCLA in February of 1986 where he saw live Jimi Hendrix perform at the student union hall (for about 350 politely seated people in folding chairs). Soon thereafter he was, being snuck (at 15 years) into night-clubs and performing those Hendrix solos with the much older Psycho-Hippy bands on the Sunset Strip. While high-school he formed several unique groups who's members have since became very successful public figures.  Some of these folks include ex-lead singer now Los Angeles City Councilman (5th District) Tom LeBonge and Dave's close friend from middle school Ronn Moss of the "Bold and the Beautiful" fame. 

College life consisted of switching schools - Dartmouth, Pierce Junior College, Los Angeles City College and finally (possibily because of the  Hendrix show) he landed at UCLA where he received degrees (BSEE & MS). Electrical Engineering and Quantum Electronics where his special academic interests. Music continued a focal interest though and during this time and David was hired by UCLA as the in-house Engineer for the schools Electronic Music Studio to lecture and supervise student projects. Also, during this time he was actively recording and working as Musical Director for hire. His work was extensive and he helped develop Toni Basil's (of the "Lockers" - street dance fame) seminal work(s) along along with Devo and is featured with her band in one of the first MTV videos. 

Along about this time his interest in dance music developed and landed him gigs (from major labels) editing, re-mixing and sweetening with top selling dance artists -- Sheila E, Prince, Evelyn Thomas, Sylvester, The Glass Family  ... etc .. 

In 1984 Dave Storrs first came in contact with the upcoming Rap Scene by visiting the famous Radio Club. He was fascinated from this new form of music with DJ´s scratchin records and Mc´s doin their live performance. In the Radio he first met DJ Pepo who worked for JDC Records and has a good contact to the street scene. Pepo introduced Dave to Kid Frost, Ice T and the Spin Masters and they ended in Dave´s garage studio recording tracks like "Rough Cut", "Terminator", "Body Rock" and "Brothers" on the new founded record label Electrobeat Records. 

At that time he also wrote and produced the trailer music and underscore with Chris "The Glove" Taylor (the dance battle in particular) for the watershed breakdance Film “Breakin". The film company requested a rap over one of the tracks for the soundtrack release. Chris "the Glove" who also worked on this production called Ice T and together they recorded "Reckless" which was a mayor success. 

To call Storrs eclectic is perhaps an understatement as he has subsequently written, engineered and produced songs, underscores, specialty and promotional music for many major motion pictures, artists (like-Sylverster’s #1 dance hit “Takin Love Into my Own Hands” and Stops huge MTV award winning hit “Wake Up”).  Advertising campaigns for such diverse projects as the film “Robo Cop” or the score for CBS animated television series “Raggedy Ann & Andy”. This is a short and incomplete list of his work and his music, a director’s favorite choice, is continually being re-licensed for current major releases.

The history of the Radio/Radiotron is long and interesting. First opend as a nightclub in 1980 by a guy called "AJ" who was a close friend to Ice T. Together with Chris "The Glove" Taylor they formed the legendary "Radio Crew".  In 1983 it was closed and reopend as a kind of youth center under the name Radiotron in the Mac Arthur Park area of Los Angeles. It was not just a community youth center; it also served as a safe place for young dancers in Los Angeles to focus on their creativity, leaving the negativity that plagued the inner city at the door. Kids from different neighborhoods, beliefs & backgrounds came to RADIOTRON, ignoring their differences and participating in recreational activities that had a definite Hip-Hop flavor & ultimately played a part in defining Hip-Hop culture. 

RADIOTRON soon became the focal point of early Hip-Hop culture, playing host to Breakin's 1st underground event in 1982. Movies like Breaking 1, Electric Boogaloo, Breaking and Entering, as well as many music videos were filmed at RADIOTRON. It was the foundation and continues to be the mother of Hip-Hop in Los Angeles. RADIOTRON not only provided a strong base; it also carried the past to the present for the future of breakin. 

David Guzman formaly "MC SIN" meet Ice-T and AJ at the Roxy's in NYC throught Africa Islam. David came to California for a job looking for AJ at the Radio but is was closed down. Dave was hired by Carmelo Alvarez to run the RadioTron in 1983. 

In 1985, the community center that had become affectionately known as RADIOTRON was demolished due to legal issues. Although only one wall stands of the community center that once housed the original RADIOTRON location, it continues to live in the hearts & minds of b-boys and b-girls throughout the hip hop nation, so from now on think of the RADIOTRON event as a super global hip hop family reunion. 

Big name stars that are synonymous with the international hip-hop movement have supported & appeared at prior RADIOTRON events. Old school legends such as: Air Force Crew, Kurtis Blow, Ice -T, Dre, Shake City Rockers, Greg Mac, Egyptian Lover, Mr Freeze, Fresh, Chain Reaction, Don Camballock, Jurassic 5, Huey, New York City Breakers, Rocksteady, Tony Bazel, Pop n Taco, Fabulous Lockers, Boogaloo Shrimp, Baka Boys, Sway and Tech, Pop n Pete, Orko, Mr. Wiggles, Renegades, Style Elements, LA Breakers, Rockin Wizards, Project Blow and Michael Jackson Productions are but a few of the names that have attended prior RADIOTRON events.

Darryl Davis started as a graffitti artists back in the 70´s. At that time he did several flyers and promotion material for clubs and discos. He first came in contact with the rap scene by doin the Coverwork for the first World Class Wreckin Cru record "Slice".  After this he worked on drawings for West Coast Classics like World Class Wreckin Cru´s "Sugery", "Juice", "Bust it up" and Unknown DJ´s "808 Beats", "Let´s Jam", "Breakdown" and many more. Darry Davis also was creative Mastermind behind the Kru-Cut, Techno Hop and Ruthless Logo. Beside his well known cover art he helped to produce titles like Unknown DJ 
"808 Beats", "Let´s Jam" and played the guitar part in "Facade - The Groove". 

His typical drawing style and his musical influence in the early West Coast Rap is known to each record collector over the world. Allthough it is allmost an quality sign of the music if Lyrrad created the cover. Darryl Davis gave the West Coast Movement the visual Art by creating the most known Record Covers of allmost every important Record Release.

DJ Juan Gibson representing Los Angeles/Australia made a name for himself with mixed tapes in the early 80´s. Soon he formed a group called the Funk Army with DJ Antron and created the 12inch records "Tha Swami" (1984) and "Rappin Man" (1985) both released on William Walkers "On the Spot" label. DJ Juan G came in 2nd place at the Radiotron's Dj battle contest only beaten by his good friend Antron. Juan loaned Arabian Prince his 808 for Bobby Jimmy's  Big Butt 12" and did studio work in Compton and Los Angeles before relocating to Australia for 6 years where he did live shows at his own club with W.C., Ice Cube, and Wycleff Jean.

"Tha Swami call from back in the days I use to wear cap "do rag". One of my homboys said I look like a Swami. So I name my first Record Tha Swami."
