something to say for itself. Four tracks that will make you feel like you’ve walked in on the patriarchy with its pants down and it’s made 
you wanna dance. Lyrical gymnastics injected into a cocktail of 
empowered 80s nostalgia and here-and-now societal critique, “Social Intercourse” bops its way through the themes of illicit desire, social 
stereotyping, environmental anxiety and queer heartbreak, without stopping for breath. GLYSK has spent years making GarageBand demos on her smashed-screen iPad in her bedroom. It wasn’t until producer Brain Rays heard them that they came together with
James Stewart to turn those demos into the glitchy, iridescent slickness that shimmers in this EP.  

Hedonist is a sonic exploration into the moment before the roller coaster leaves the ground; the hormones hanging in the air just before an illicit kiss. It tackles morality, ﬁckleness, ownership of action, the limitations of heteronormativity and the irrepressible heat of sexual tension.

Brought together by a mutual love of kaleidoscopic electronica like Four Tet and Caribou, Maiians are one of the most exciting and innovative instrumental bands to emerge in years. The five-piece includes 2 drummers, who provide perfectly interlocking grooves over addictive synth and guitar lines. The result is a Balearic dream; ebbing and flowing from playful, housey euphoria to post-rock soundscapes without skipping a beat. 

Their debut release, the 'Tokyo EP', was mixed by Bartosz Kruczynski, half of Polish production duo Ptaki. The group are are already turning heads around the UK, with The Line Of Best Fit calling them 'an immensely exciting new outfit on the electronic scene'.

EP lead track 'Lemon' is backed by a stunning video, 3 months in the making, which weaves together clips from the weird and wonderful world of YouTube with the rhythmic intricacies of the track.

Following their hypnotic debut 'Lemon' (and its remarkable accompanying video), Oxford 5-piece Maiians return with 'One of Each'. 
Combining eerie post-rock guitar, Battles-esque rhythms and percussive synth lines with a sinister, dystopian voice sample, 'One of Each' manages to be both an addictive and unsettling listen. 
The 8-minute epic somehow brings to mind the finest moments of Four Tet and Caribou, whilst offering something totally and utterly unique. 

The video, conceived and filmed by Maiians member Sam King, perfectly aligns with the building intensity of the track, a visual feast of abstract images, human unease and paranoia that calls to mind Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror.
Sam: "We wanted the video to mirror the energy of the song; slow building, moving up piece by piece over time. There's something slightly disorienting about the track, and I liked the idea of the visuals being quite abstract and sinister - people can interpret the 'chasers' to be whatever they want." 

Since their conception in early 2014, Maiians have been turning heads with their double-drum propelled electronica. Their debut EP 'Tokyo', released on Oxford label Idiot King, came out in November 2014.

Maiians play their first London headline at The Sebright Arms on January 19th 2015, with support from Mountain Range & Forced Random.

Following their debut 'Tokyo' EP, Oxford 5-piece Maiians return with new single 'Sionara' on April 20th. 
Clocking in at just under 7 minutes, the epic track is a masterclass in musical mind control and filmic elegance. Building in pace piece by piece, 'Sionara' teeters on the edge of the storm before soaring up into a haze of post-rock guitar, ground-shaking beats and jagged synths. With musical nods to Four Tet, Holy Fuck and Mogwai, 'Sionara' somehow manages to be both hypnotic and ear-worm immediate all at once.

Since their conception in early 2014, Maiians have been turning heads with their double-drum propelled electronica and arresting live performances. The band are set to play three UK dates this April in support of the single:
