By a bent knee and a blood-red moon,
Promised more than a man should boast,

Hands still shake from a knife I held,
Not sayin’ names, but the night sure smelled.
Like rust and rain and a bad last choice,
When the dark leaned in and stole my voice.

Black Water Oath

The epic centerpiece took six days to record—the longest session for any single track. Carlo collapsed twice from exhaustion during the final crescendo takes. Santini brought in the full I Virtuosi di Roma orchestra, which had performed on countless Sergio Leone westerns.

The quiet section at 6:45 was recorded last. After screaming for hours, Carlo's voice was destroyed. The whispered confession "Cosa ho fatto" came from genuine physical and emotional exhaustion—it wasn't acting anymore.

Elena's violin solo at 5:00-6:00 is legendary. She played it in one take, barefoot, eyes closed, swaying dangerously. When it ended, she collapsed. The take was perfect—they never attempted another. Santini: "I've recorded Edda Dell'Orso, I've worked with the greatest musicians in Italy. Elena's performance on this track is the most emotionally devastating thing I've ever witnessed."

Giorgio's timpani performance was so violent he cracked the drum head twice. "I was hitting them like I was killing someone," he admitted later. His prosthetic leg kept perfect time even as he destroyed the drums.

Critical Response: Italian film critic Giovanni Grazzini wrote: "This eight-minute piece accomplishes what entire films fail to do—it makes you understand the psychology of murder. Carlo's vocals and Elena's violin create something beyond music—it's auditory cinema of the soul. I left my first listening shaking."

**Legendary Status:** This track cemented Le Ombre Rosse's reputation. It's been called "the Bohemian Rhapsody of dark cabaret" and "the most emotionally exhausting nine minutes in Italian music."
