Caught up again with @code618 from Adelaide for another b2b mix with each other. We played lots of new tracks and also some classics as well. Recorded in one take and not really knowing each others tracks, so it was a lot fun seeing where we went. Enjoy this interstate throwdown.

Last school year was a special one at Can CANELA! We made it to a decade, and despite the fact that we've been working tirelessly behind the scenes since the pandemic (right now we have 2 test pressings at home...), we were able to celebrate our 10th anniversary in two of the clubs where we've enjoyed the most during all these years the simple but oh so comforting act of sharing records with people: Café Berlín in our beloved Madrid, and LAUT in what is and will always be our home, Barcelona.

The truth is that we aren't people who like to celebrate our birthdays in a big way, but when it comes to Canela En Surco, it's a different story. It may sound cliché, but the fact is you don't celebrate 10 years every day, and so we wanted to offer a gift to the attendees that would commemorate this day forever.

The gift came in the form of a one-hour mix recorded back to back by our favorite Yorugua Maxi Arrieri aka Fatal with Canela director Breixo Martínez, self-released in a limited run of 50 cassette copies, featuring design by Fatal aka Maxxximiliano himself and an illustration by one of our favorite artists, Martín Funcasta. We gave away the tapes to the first ones to arrive that night at LAUT, as well as to the staff and some friends who have greatly helped us on this path.

Drone, Folk, an unreleased song by Ivy Barkakati, Industrial music, a song that sounds like Sumo but is NOT, oh, and of course a lot of opiates,...

Our funds only permitted this limited run, we would have liked to make more but the idea was that nobody had to pay for a copy (we wanted to give back a little of what people have given us over the years). Many friends have been writing to us to see if we had any copies of the cassette or if we could send them the audio of the mix instead, so we finally decided to upload it to our website for the personal consumption of those who want it.

Ok so. It's been a while. 

I’m blaming it on summer - nothing more, nothing less. It’s already been a hectic year and life just has a way of getting twisted. 

Anyway, enough BS. I've got a tonne of new mixes to put this year and they’re all bloody unreal - I may be biased but I’m not wrong. 

This mix in particular is an absolute heart melter, courtesy of Melbourne's own (we’ve claimed him) Paradise Box, which is actually his name on his birth certificate. Don’t know much about the dude but god damn he’s made some good music. 

This mix hits, seriously. A softly driven emotional folk core road trip. Easily adapted to any mood or scenario, each time you listen you'll come away with something different. Futurist post-romance pop-punk vibes; rainforest dub echoes; folk trap; essence of drive soundtrack; all of these things come to mind during the journey across this beautiful soundscape. 

But i'll let you make up your own mind. 

Hit play for the first of many times and take some time out to take a breath and come back down to earth.
