An artist with a diverse and storied relationship with the dance music scene, GMJ & Matter are proud to see Kasper Koman make his label debut with the twin-track "Sinking Sky / Biome". A veteran of more than a century of production credits dating back to a 2008 debut, Kasper Koman has seen his work signed to myriad high-profile labels including the likes of Plattenbank, Anjunadeep and Guy J's Lost & Found. From central Netherlands, Kasper has combined trademark emotion with a powerful and evocative sound that has seen his music supported by such leading tastemakers as Guy Mantzur, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J himself. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the "Sinking Sky" opener is characterised by a driving beat and metronomic hi-hat pattern. A running 16th note bassline pattern enters the fray in the second movement with a fizzing vibrancy provided by resonating and filtered effects. A cast of additional characters add to the overall sonic landscape including a beautifully juxtaposed pad progression. A spine-tingling breakdown provides acetylene-edged emotion via the extended bassline motif, before hitting its stride once more in the latter stages to wondrous effect and no small amount of production talent. "Biome" continues the narrative of raw effects-laden power, while a strong kick lays the foundation for a piercing percussive groove, adding swing to the off-beat. A well-crafted sonic palette supplies a soft chord progression of Kraftwerk-inspired imagination as a meandering array of well-placed effects, white-noise washes and rasping bass notes create a mosaic of sounds. The result is a hypnotic, angular offering that keeps listener interest piqued without a central melody seeing the 6-minute piece fly past in an instant. Pemiere: Anton Make - Catollopa (HAFT Remix) [Mango Alley]

Juicebox Music's 79th release welcomes Agustín Ficarra to the fold as he makes his debut with a 3-track EP, featuring "Revival", "Levitar" & "Conventional Habit". The Buenos Aires (Argentina) based artist made his production debut in 2020 and has since scaled his associations & quality, from releases on D-Nox's 'Sprout', Mango's 'Mango Alley' to Nick Warren's 'The Soundgarden' and Hernan Cattaneo & Graziano Raffa's 'Sudbeat'. Agustín continued making waves, especially around his country, through his comprehensive & genre-breaking DJ sets, whether it's on his own or alongside fellow peers from the 'Who Knows' crew.

To showcase a portion of his range, Agustín's curated & put together 3 tracks that express certain musical directions, whether it's the hard-hitting techno-influenced monster in "Revival" or the organic-infused emotionally charged groover in "Levitar" or the technically unconventional (excuse the pun) songwriting in "Conventional Habit". Kamilo Sanclemente, DHAF - Surreal Visions (DHAF Vision)

This mashup fuses two of my favorite musical worlds: the melodic progressive house of Guy J and the explosive dubstep of Skrillex. I took the deep and emotive atmosphere of Guy J's "Illusion" as a base and integrated the vocals from Skrillex's "Stranger" as a decorative element.

This mashup is an exploration of the sonic possibilities that arise when combining two seemingly disparate styles. The idea is to generate a listening experience that transports the listener through different emotional states, from introspection and melancholy to euphoria and liberation.

Next on ICONYC sees the return of Alex O'Rion with the reworked 2020 edit of his smash hit 'Navagio'. The talented Dutch producer has been a well-known entity within the scene and has graced some of the world's finest electronic music labels with his unique and lasting productions. Hailing from Amsterdam, Alex, developed a unique style of music, full of ambiances, paired with despondent and warm dreamy patterns that guided him to where he is to today and embodies the sound he now personifies. 

Alex leads with the outstanding rework of his timeless 'Navagio' track; a stunning driving melodic progressive house affair. The track utilizes a deep groove as foundation, underpinned by a profound bass and smooth synth chords that gradually ease their way to the summit. Unified by a relentless kick drum and dusky atmospheric emotion, the composition climaxes by adding recurrent percussive elements and soft soaked melodies that come together to create a structured sphere of sonic satisfaction. 

On remix duty we welcome Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat, famed for their endless high-quality productions. Their interpretation sounds mature, effortless, and full of subtle nuance. Known to never be bound by any particular style, we see the duo taking a deeper route for their rework of 'Navagio'. Kamilo & Dabeat deliver a bittersweet, quality fueled, melancholic rework that manages to get your legs shaking with each downbeat. Great stuff!

Adding to our list of all-star remixers, we drafted in Subandrio who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing reworks, turning his mix into an irresistible track using the original elements with perfection. Subandrio layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed tech percussion and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the original. His rework deserves to be branded 'elemental' in any sense of the word. 

Alex O'Rion has developed a unique style which endeared him to us; having established his credentials as a master of his craft. Alex's 'Navagio 2020 Rework', accompanied by 2 reworks from Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat and Subandrio, is certain to find its way into the playlists of the big-boys brigade. Another essential ICONYC release from the heart, for the dance loving soul.
