We are delighted to welcome Dutch duo Engelbert with their brand-new 'Cosmos Descent EP' to ICONYC. The talented producer duo has been causing a stir within the scene with their unique and lasting productions. Engelbert developed an inimitable style of music, full of drive, paired with despondent and warm dreamy patterns that guided them to where he they are today and embodies the sound, they now personify. 
 
On his debut Engelbert lead with the outstanding 'Descent'; a stunning driving progressive house affair with some melodic techno elements for good measure. The track utilizes a deep groove as foundation, underpinned by a profound bass and driving synth chords that gradually ease their way to the summit. Unified by a deep kick drum and dusky atmospheric emotion, the composition climaxes by adding recurrent percussive elements and soft soaked melodies that come together to create a structured sphere of sonic satisfaction. Clever synth phrases complete the picture to create an ingeniously worked piece of art. 

The melodic soundscapes of the accompanying track 'Cosmos' rounds off this spectacular release. Engelbert's influences are immediately evident as subtle freeform concepts drift through percussive inspired instrumentations. Rippling melodies trip along a deep kick that anchors an auricular montage to create a special sonic infused moment, complemented by a stunning groove that is going to leave a mark on your aural perception. Stunningly textured pads that warm the soul and a strong melodic infused bassline provide the base for this inspired piece to play out in delayed glory. Essential stuff!

With Engelbert's brand-new outing on ICONYC, they take their talents a step further to round off this brilliant underground 2 track crowd pleaser. We happily welcome again on board our friend and great live act and producer, Masella. He made 2 exclusively tracks for Beatfreak focused on emotional melodies with dance floor elements. Being able to create and release music is a beautiful privilege to have. Keeping an eagle-eyed focus on the socials, the charts, and the artist dashboards to see how a release is doing can be highly energizing. However, I found over the last couple of months that it can also create a negative form of pressure. Even though I told myself not to let myself be influenced by the numbers, I still try to make the next release better than the last one. To get more streams, more chart positions, more views. 
It doesn’t help that my social feed is filled with all these “get a million streams on Spotify” videos ;)

Anyway, it is the single reason I failed my promise to release a track every month of the year. I keep falling into a second-guessing mode that stops me from completing a song. Stupid, and I am stopping it right now!

So, I wrote a little song about it!

Under Pressure is a driving melodic techno track with the quirky synth parts you have come to expect from me. The vocal provides a bit of meaning to the matter above. What I take away from it is that there really is ‘no more time’ to second-guess oneself. Just get on with it. Let your creativity flow, and don’t mind the numbers. In the end, it’s an art form, and art can’t be quantified.
