When Marino Canal came up with an unofficial remix of David O’Dowda's 'The World Retreats‘, David instantly loved it and agreed to an official release. The two of them got to know each other and started to work on music together resulting in this 2-track EP, a beautiful merger between different realms of music.

'Half Life' is the perfect display of how an almost acoustic song can be successfully combined with a 4x4 beat. The piano chord and David’s soft but significant voice steadily builds up tension which afterwards gets released through the driving synergy of kick and bass. The track never becomes too busy, what makes every carefully chosen sound even more prominent and important. A beautiful song to listen and to dance to. 

The second half of this release follows the more classical Marino Canal approach of a dance track. 'Reach' takes its time do develop while the interaction between David’s vocals, the arp and finally the celestial pad-chords soak you into this epic journey. 

All in all two carefully true-to-detail crafted pieces of music which gladly found their home on Siamese.

Welcome Flemming Bassedow. The upcoming talent made a beautiful melodic ep in his very own style. "Fading" features gliding synths and arpeggiators next to his own vocal. "The Stranger In You" has a catchy progression with a groovy and straight forward beat. "Tesserakt" has a dark and melancholic vibe and a moody piano.

With 'Riotous' we're excited to welcome back Paul Sawyer to ICONYC featuring a couple of fantastic remixes courtesy of Betoko & Mundo D who bring us their take on Paul's new single. Paul has developed a universally loved unique style; a dynamic, groovy, deep and hypnotic fusion of genres that perfectly fits in any kind of club or open-air festival. Paul releases have always received high acclaim - with support across the board from the who is who is in the world of electronic music.

Paul who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing productions, delivers an irresistible track that kicks things off nicely with the melancholic vibes setting the tone. He roams effortlessly through progressive inspired melodies, while the sultry chords sit wonderfully on top of the driving percussive foundation. Paul takes it up a notch by adding an extra layer of depth, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed drumming and his trademark FX elements, without destroying the essence of the main groove. His work deserves to be branded 'essential' in any sense of the word.

On remix duty we welcome back label all-star Betoko who is known for his deep driving and refined sound, keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general drive all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear yet sounding totally fresh - This massive touch up takes the energy quantities up a level and increases the drive with stripped back and lucid elements, before the energetic groove creates a blanket of warmth that will put a smile on your face.

The second remix comes courtesy of Spanish Sincopat regular Mundo D, who brings a more indie edge to 'Riotous'. His rework creates a good feel vibe from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with tinkling sounds on the edge and some nicely effected sound designs that keeps building to culminate into a rocking melodic groover. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow. 

With the talent on offer, Paul Sawyer's 'Rioutous' manages to deliver a message of sustained musical relevance in emphatic fashion to warm the soul. Not to be missed!
