There was a thick fog which hung down by the docks. It had blown in from the West coast earlier that morning and sent a repulsive shiver up through the industry. How could they continue to bang the drum whilst the cold swallowed them up down by the water?

The sound of industry would need to come to a halt. At least temporarily for the time being. Only then would it be able to rise again once more, with an even louder thunder and the density of an echo which would bang and rally through time.

Listen carefully to the sound of silence, before the drums return.

Of Paradise are set to release an all conquering new EP from Tymotica which might be one of our favourites from the label yet. This track features riotous punching stabs, hard hitting drums and a precise tension which will do wonders in big dark rooms.

Besides a collection of new music, Undercurrents is also a consideration of what a record label can be in 2024. The ever artful and innovative Configurations of Self label returns with a new EP from founder Alexander Church and frequent guest artist, Jody Barr. The last couple of decades have seen Church emerge as one of techno’s most interesting sound designers, groove makers and synth wizards. From melodic soundscapes to industrial techno under a range of aliases he can do it all, and often with a deep thinking perspective that adds real depth to the music. Barr, meanwhile, last appeared on the label when remixing back in June. He has also landed on Krankbrother and Nofitstate, runs his own Portable Minds, and is also a close member of Sasha’s Last Night on Earth family. His hardware-centric sound is always rugged and real.
Our pick up here was Jody Barr who offers 'Collusion', a darker track with acid gurgles underpinning the icy hi hats. It's deep techno for the dead of the night and is hugely atmospheric.
