The Lowdown
Phil Weeks and Robsoul Recordings kick off their 15th year in house music with a new three track EP from the main man himself.  Live At Palladium has been the standout track of Phil’s sets over the last few months, always generating a queue of people asking what it is.  You may just recognize the Marvin Gaye sample, which was also previously “borrowed” by Moodymann.  It comes backed with the funk-infused You Want My Love and the soaring, chugging groove of Demain A Jamais, and looks set to get another year off to a flying start for one of the finest labels in underground house music.

EDX Unveils His "Miami Sunset" Remix of Spada's "Catchfire (Sun Sun Sun)"

EDX announces his "Miami Sunset" remix of Spada’s “Catchfire (Sun Sun Sun)” due out on Monday, July 6th via Ego Music.  With his remix of Sam Feldt’s “Show Me Love” still riding high on the Beatport charts, and garnering even more support as the fifth most Shazam-ed track of this Ibiza season, EDX returns with some serious wind behind his sails for his Ego Music debut.

EDX is a multi-faceted artist, and his numerous production styles shine through in his newest effort. By layering together a piano-driven melody with a deep bass line and uplifting synth arrangements, EDX manages to create a remix of “Catchfire” that walks a fine line between punchy club construction and summertime anthem, finding a perfect middle ground.

Coming off of performances at EDC Las Vegas and Paradiso, EDX looks to continue his steady rise to the top of the totem pole with quality release after quality release, and a rigorous touring schedule that has him playing high profile nightclubs, and major festivals around the globe on his ongoing “Want You” tour. In the past six months alone, EDX has a Beatport chart-topper to his name with his remix of Sons of Maria and Nora en Pure’s “Uruguay,” and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. With his baritone of butter, Jacob Banks could be seen as a successor to any of the 60s and 70s soul greats. But Banks' independently released music carries a different message for a different time. Currently unsigned, the Birmingham singer created his new EP, Paradox, entirely by himself - from mixing and mastering to designing the artwork. "I've put my heart on the line," Banks points out of the 7-track compilation of soul-searching songs that scale resentment and redemption. Taken from Paradox, the foot-stomping, fist-pumping Monster, produced by Show N Prove and Banks, is a passionate recourse aimed at the enemy - both external and within. “This song was born out of a lot anger," says Jacob. "I wrote it in my bathroom  - proper rock and roll! I’m going through life at a very fast pace and I’m learning a lot of things the hard way. One of the things I’ve learnt is that as much as I don’t like it, sometimes you have to become a monster to get what you want and I may well have to become the miracle I’m searching for.”
