Uwdar (czyli 1/2 duetu ETNOBOTANIKA) prezentuje album Broken Planet. Wydawnictwo kasetowe oznaczone w naszym katalogu jako SPRK004 to coś absolutnie wyjątkowego. To co pierwsze rzuca się w oczy to sam wygląd kasety. Postanowiliśmy nieco zaszaleć i po raz pierwszy zrobiliśmy kasetę typu full print, a ponadto na dwóch stronach kasety znajdują się dwie różne grafiki w rożnych kolorach, które dzięki efektowi przezroczystości nakładają się na siebie. Do kasety dołączona jest także wkładka z czterema dwustronnymi panelami wypełnionymi zdjęciami, które przedstawiają inspiracje dla tego albumu. Projekt kasety w oldschoolowym stylu współgra z muzyką, która nawiązuje do złotych czasów breakbeatu, jungle i trip-hopu. Dobrze znanym breakom towarzyszą nostalgiczne, syntezatorowe melodie, za które tak polubiliśmy ETNOBOTANIKĘ i oczywiście sample. Jest tu sporo gitarowych wstawek umiejętnie wyciętych ze starych polskich punkowych kaset, ale też echa głosów z VHS (np. klasyczny dialog z Serpico, Beavis i Butt-head!) czy wycinki audio z gier komputerowych z epoki (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). Uwdar sięga po oryginalne breaki i przetwarza je na swój wyjątkowy sposób tak, że cały czas mają taneczny potencjał, ale albumu jako całości, między innymi dzięki licznym skitom, interludiom i zmianom tempa, świetnie słucha się w całości. What strikes at first sight is the very look of the cassette. We decided to go a little crazy and for the first time we made a full print cassette, moreover on two sides of the cassette there are two different graphics in different colors, which thanks to the transparency effect are superimposed on each other. The cassette also comes with an insert with four double-sided panels filled with photos that represent the inspiration for this album. The cassette's old-school design works in tandem with the music, which harkens back to the golden days of breakbeat, jungle and trip-hop. Well-known breaks are accompanied by nostalgic, synth melodies for which we liked ETNOBOTANICA so much and, of course, samples. There are a lot of guitar interludes skilfully cut from old Polish punk tapes, but also echoes of voices from VHS (e.g. a classic dialogue from Serpico, Beavis and Butt-head!) or audio clips from computer games of the era (Tony Hawk Pro Skater). If you remember the times of pirate CDs and cassettes, when Prodigy and Westbama albums reigned supreme, if you spent hours playing the aforementioned Tony Hawk or Wipeout, this cassette will give you a nice nostalgia trip! Of course this is not just a recreation of what used to be. Uwdar takes the original breaks and transforms them in his own unique way so that they still have dance potential, but the album as a whole, thanks to numerous skits, interludes and tempo changes, among other things, is a great listen. Something else emerges from all this - the story of "Broken Planet". Is it a commentary to the times we live in or the condition of all of us as humanity? See for yourself!

CIARKI are back with their latest compilation, SAME KOTY, Vol. 2. It’s been almost a year since the launch of the series, which has included the likes of We Rob Rave, Penera, and Avtomat. It has taken music platforms by storm, bringing to light new gems from the Polish broken and bass scene — and as demonstrated in this release, there’s much more to come.

This long-awaited, dancefloor-focused release features seven different Polish artists, many of whom have already established their names with wider audiences. The new compilation moves towards stomping leftfield house and bass techno, with talented duo Private Press and track Kordlooops, and man like naked relaxing and his My Devils. There’s also Gluon, a 2-step track infused with electro, smoothly embraced by Holoe. Habibi Funk is another stomper from house-lover Marcin Krupa, who is bringing reese bass and funk vocals into his production. There’s also a difficult-to-describe but very cool combination of breaks, slow-tempo and soothing vocals, stirred together by Baby Meelo in Can’t Explain. Moving towards faster tempos, enter the supremely talented footwork producer Ruchy, whose track Hella is featured as a single available for pre-order. Finally, experienced producer Tom Encore goes back to his roots with a deep drum and bass roller Body Double.

Po przygodach w świecie retro gier (Uwdar, Cat.Finch & Pstyk) Superkasety wracają do eksperymentowania z samplami z polskich mniej i bardziej znanych utworów. Album "Radio Lato" wyprodukowany przez fopa to blisko 50-minutowa audycja pełna wpadających w ucho wokali, połamanych dźwięków perkusji, rozmarzonych melodii ale też eksperymentów z samplami. Wszystko to poprzetykane radiowymi wejściami w formie dialogu Jego i Jej. Prowadzący audycję zapraszają słuchacza do kolejnych utworów, prezentują pogodę i reklamy. Oczywiście w konwencji humorystycznej, a może nawet prześmiewczej - autorom audycji „Radio Lato” raczej daleko do hiperentuzjazmu dyskdżokejów z Radia Eska. W pewnym momencie przyznają nawet, że boli ich głowa… od wina 🙂 Zresztą wino to trochę leitmotiv tej płyty, co dodatkowo podkreśla letni i luźny charakter albumu. Znalazł się tu nawet kawałek zatytułowany po prostu „Wino”, ale też inne, wakacyjne numery takie jak chociażby „Szczęście” czy „Słońce”. Oczywiście one również - podobnie jak radiowe skity - nie są typowymi „letniakami”. To raczej lato duchologiczne, pełne nostalgii, lato za którym tęskni się nawet kiedy ono jeszcze trwa. Lato, które chcielibyśmy, żeby nie skończyło się nigdy albo takie, które pamiętamy z dawnych lat.
Brzmieniowo również jest to raczej nostalgiczna podróż - kawałki zostały nagrane w konwencji house („Wino”, „Czas”), jungle (balearyczne, połamane „Słońce”) a nawet trap („Twarz”) i dub („Rana”), ale są tutaj też bardziej eksperymentalne momenty jak kolaż ekstremalnie przekształconych sampli w „Ja”. Właściwie wszystko jest tutaj au rebours - radiowe dialogi, jakich w radiu nie usłyszymy, muzyka teoretycznie lekka, bo przecież letnia, a jednak wielowymiarowa. Wszystko to tworzy atmosferę gęstą jak sierpniowe powietrze, które jest przyjemne, ale też budzi w nas podskórnie niepokój, że ten piękny czas pełen słońca, wina i zabawy niebawem się skończy.  
To letnia wizja totalna - letnia, ale nie banalna, mocno duchologiczna. Zapraszamy na audycję jakiej jeszcze nie słyszeliście - „Radio Lato”!

The album "Radio Lato" produced by FOPA is almost 50 minutes long and is full of catchy vocals, broken percussion sounds, dreamy melodies but also experiments with samples. All this interwoven with radio entrances in the form of a dialogue between him and her. The hosts invite the listener to listen to subsequent tracks, present the weather and commercials. Of course, the convention is humorous or even ridiculous. At one point they even admit that their head hurts... from wine 🙂
Sound-wise it's also rather a nostalgic journey - the tracks were recorded in house convention ("Wino", "Czas"), jungle (balearic, broken "Słońce") and even trap ("Twarz") and dub ("Rana"), but there are also more experimental moments like the collage of extremely transformed samples in "Ja". Actually, everything here is au rebours - radio dialogues, which we won't hear on the radio, music which is theoretically light, because it's summer, and yet multidimensional. All this creates an atmosphere as thick as the August air, which is pleasant, but also makes us feel uneasy that this beautiful time full of sun, wine and fun will soon end.  We invite you to a programme you have never heard before - "Radio Lato"!

Manchester party Off Beat make their first steps into the label world, launching a new platform to share their love of UK bass culture. For the inaugural outing, they've enlisted the talents of Breaka who's previous releases for Desert Sound Colony's Holding Hands, his own Breaka Recordings and Leeds' Stretchy Dance Supply have caused quite a stir since 2018. Titled The Startup, the two-tracker moves from UK bass grooves and warm subs on the A Side to jungle-inspired breaks on the flip; a perfect indicator of what we can expect from the newly-founded imprint in future.
