Embracing eclecticism is something we admire with artists we feature & our next producer/DJ is no exception. Welcoming Naarm based Aldonna onboard our guest mix series. It's easy to pinpoint why she's become a local favourite within the thriving Naarm scene; her ability to drift in and out of house, techno, breaks, and trance is impressive. However, what elevates her is an innate ability to seek out lost old-school classics from the '90s and early '00s. 

She's notably contributed to the “Feel My Bicep” mix series curated by none other than the legendary international duo BICEP, and recently played at Australia’s longest running New Years Day festival, Let Them Eat Cake.

Indeed, any Aldonna set is physically spontaneous, an uplifting affair that borders on the highly contagious. She recently made her foray into music production, already producing tracks that are becoming stand out moments in her own DJ sets.

Aldonna's comments on the mix: 'I went straight in with this mix , no preparation or playlists made just some good old digging on the spot, incorporating both records and mp3s. Everything felt super organic and I had the most fun recording this! 

I start off the mix with a classic house favourite of mine , Taste - Capricorn. This track is a staple in my sets and I find always lifts the energy in the room. The mix progresses slowly through house, breaks acid house and prog with quite a few fun vocal tracks in between! I always try to balance out my mixes with a good amount of both old and new music and a variation of genres!

I included tracks from some artists I love such as Paramida, CJ Bolland, Luca Lozano, Eris Drew, Fruit , Clint and many more!'

Off the back of his recent ARIA nomination for Best Cover Art, Eben (aka @ekzander) continues to create a surrealistic atmosphere in his portrait series for phase 080-089. Focusing on his fascination of eyes and the human form, he explores abstraction of digital painting mediums and traditional techniques to create warped techno figures.

A star on the rise, the Melbourne/Naarm-based Aldonna joins us for the twenty-first edition of our Lost Sundays Sessions mix series 🎶

2022 is the year of Aldonna. With a debut EP, ‘Morph’, dropping via tastemaker imprint Homage New York to headline shows across the country, Aldonna shows no signs of slowing her ascent towards global recognition. A tireless name amongst the upper echelons of Melbourne's club scene, it's Aldonna's high-energy, diverse and infectious sets that have really set her apart - this mix is no different.

Read on for a few words from Aldonna about the mix below:

“An artist I've recently discovered is Man/Ipulate. He is from France and is an insanely talented producer. He makes a lot of groovy Italo and dream house which has such an old-school tip to them, yet still sounds current. I think I purchased three of his records in the same week once I discovered him, he is undoubtedly one to watch! I've included the Alex Kassian remix of his track 'Eternity' in this mix.

Speaking of Alex Kassian, I couldn’t help but put not one but three of his remixes in this mix. He is certainly my favourite producer and I think one of the best in the world. He has a signature sound, and every track he makes is a certified dance floor heater. One of those remixes included is his rework of one of my tracks, ‘The Empress’ Acid Line’ (taken from my forthcoming EP ‘Morph’, coming via Homage New York in August). Alex did the most amazing job on this remix, I couldn't be happier with it and I am so excited for it to be released!

Finally, the track I'm most excited to play in the club is 'Always’ (Tooley St Mix) by Tin Tin Out; one of my fave euro-trance bangers! It has such a great melody and build, and it always gets the most amazing reaction. It's such a fun one and I feel like it would go absolutely off at Lost Sundays.” - @aldonna
