Yesss yes, it’s time for our next Mustard Mix and this one is premium.

Whilst Velvet Velour’s roots are tied to Bristol through running his own night ‘Niceness’ and hosting a monthly show on the city’s SWU.FM station, his audience is starting to spread much wider over the globe. With a highly praised debut EP via Dr Banana & Alec Falconer’s ‘Scratch Discs’ label earlier this year, VV’s next record will be released on Joe Delon’s, ‘Welt Discos’ label - which you may hear inside this mix ;). 

‘Niceness’ is new to Bristol but has already hosted some favourites; such as Youandewan and Liquid Earth, and they’ve got some lovely upcoming events welcoming Joe Delon, Hamish Cole and Tho. 

The mix is 100% Velvet Velour productions, aka Liam Dadds, and after giving this one a spin we’re sure you’ll agree we’re expecting most of these to find their way onto those round waxy discs we all love in the coming year/ years.

The Nuances de Nuit label head's profile continues to rise with the label's success, maturing both as selector and producer; with forthcoming music on Truly Madly's Mindhelmet, as-well as own label Nuances de Nuit.

Starting out as a dance music enthusiast, she taught herself the basics of mixing, and inevitably grew her hobby into a creative project through many different outputs. Having curated a series of guest mixes, she’s landed performances at some of Eora’s most renowned parties - Lost Sundays, Paradise Club + Finer Things Festival, and now has a residency on Eora’s Oblique Records, and Nomad Radio. Warming the decks for the likes of Job Jobse, Bradley Zero, CC:Disco!, DJ Boring, and Harrison BDP, her refreshing output of deep house, breakbeat, UKG, and electronic toes the line beautifully between warm and inviting dance-floor listening, to just the thing to lead you into the early hours of the morning. This mix is perfect listening for anyone wanting to get stuck into it.

For some dance music fans, Hamish & Toby may be their new favourite DJs thanks to a recent US tour and excellent sets at festivals like Glastonbury, Dimensions, Houghton and Freerotation. 2022 was, after all, a breakthrough year for the UK duo. But in their own, close-knit world of Discogs fanatics and vinyl purists, Hamish Cole and Toby Wareham are admired and established names. They met while studying in Leeds, bonding over a shared love of wiggly bombs at countless clubs and hazy afterparties. They ran events (Butter Side Up, Dog Eat Dog), DJ’d tirelessly and continued to dig for obscure gems. Within a few years, they were both working full-time music jobs in London, booking Dimensions Festival (Hamish) and The Pickle Factory (Toby). (Hamish is now a director at Dimensions.) All in all, they’ve dedicated the past 15 years of their lives to dance music.

For all their behind-the-scenes work, Hamish & Toby’s true love is DJing together. They’re known for their long, expressive sets that go, in their own words, “all over the map.” Their RA Podcast, which was recorded live at Philadelphia party Subsurface in May, is a four-hour odyssey through golden-era house, tech house and UK garage. Proper party music, in other words. According to the duo, they were “fully locked in, as comfortable as we’ve ever felt DJing.” It really shows.
