We welcome Australian duo X CLUB to our ever growing Global Mix series today, as the pair provides us with an hour of absolute club ready heaters from kick off.

Born through a desire to experiment and push the boundaries of modern club music, ‘X CLUB.’ is the project of Brisbane based production duo Ben Clarke and Jesse Morath. The two creatives individually made a move into the Brisbane electronic music scene via their previous solo projects sharing club stages with numerous Australian and international producers. After playing a spontaneous back to back set and discovering they shared an equal passion for a rather more raw and experimental side of electronic music, the two joined forces and never looked back.

Drawing major influence from the iconic sounds of the 90’s warehouse rave movement and modern experimental artists such as Bjaarki, Objekt, Skee Mask, PTU and Clouds, Clarke and Morath have quickly developed a unique sound, most recently releasing their 'Active Denial Systems' EP with the excellent 1ØPILLSMATE.

Four Four Global Mix 050 - X CLUB

Very excited and honoured to make a contribution to one of my favourite series in dance music - the legendary FMB Mixtape. 

The mix is all over the place musically, but it really encapsulates the wide array of sounds that inspire my productions, while also giving an idea of the eclectic nature of my sets. I've included some unreleased pagan in here, so keep an eye out for those tracks over the next few months. As usual, drop any ID requests in the comments and I'll be happy to reply. Huge thanks to the two boys and their team for having me on, after a chance meeting outside a cafe in London last summer to now putting out a mix for them feels frankly surreal.

Willem has built a name for himself as a DJ with a unique sound that blends electro, tribal textures, breaks and trance influences. In a short amount of time, he has risen amongst the Melbourne/Naarm scene and has been blessed with the opportunities to play some of the cities most iconic venues and festivals.  He has played alongside of slew of world renowned international artists; Ben UFO, Tijana T and Oliver Huntemann to name a few. 

He has also recently became a resident for 'React' and is expected to play alongside Schake in the coming months, he is flying the flag of a fresh, unique sound that fuses old-school rave with neo-trance and proto-techno. Willem also makes up one half of the 'Gold Haus' collective based in Melbourne/Naarm, a young, exuberant team hosting warehouse and club parties. 

Willem’s productions are causing a minor stir among those in the know. His debut track, ‘Infinity Love’ on Falling Star Erotica, is a unique composition that is sentimental yet unsparingly tough. With upcoming productions sitting somewhere between hard-hitting Berlin Techno, energetic cosmic breaks, and euphoric halcyon era trance, Willem is forcing his way to the front with a massive sound that is highly impactful - and undeniably his own.

Disc Pig is a producer and DJ from Naarm, aswell as a resident at the local oolstay collective. Leaning into rave inspired sounds of techno, a set from Disc Pig distinguishes itself as fast and energetic, but also holds groove-heavy rhythms incorporating an array of lighter, house oriented genres. With releases on Naarm-based label Backpocket Slammers, his most recent self-released project ‘Return 2 Naz’ is a stunning example of his signature sound - one with hard-hitting percussive breaks, and ethereal pads.
