Founded by Michael Bibi and PAWSA in 2015, Solid Grooves Records has grown from an underground London-based movement into a globally recognised force at the forefront of the scene. Its ascent has run parallel to the meteoric rise of its co-founders, whose uncompromising vision and dedication to the scene have helped establish the label as a benchmark for quality and innovation within the house realm. Honoured with accolades such as DJ Mag's 'Best Label' at the Best of British Awards, the imprint has become synonymous with genre-defining releases and unforgettable dancefloor moments. 

Now, that journey hits a pivotal point. Bringing together core members of the label's journey over the past decade, the 100th release is a powerful statement of where the label stands in 2025 - forward-thinking, dancefloor-driven, and relentlessly tuned into the sound of now and tomorrow. A defining moment for the imprint, the release gathers the extended Solid Grooves family for a no-holds-barred package that captures the essence of the brand's sound, ethos, and evolution. The ten-track compilation features fresh music from both co-founders, who each return to the label for the first time since 2023, alongside long-time Groovers Dennis Cruz, Bassel Darwish, Reelow and Ramin Rezaie - artists who've been integral since the earliest releases. It also champions and celebrates the key residents and the ever-emerging new wave of talent shaping the label's future, with standout contributions from KinAhau, Ben Sterling, Blackchild, and Silvie Loto. Closely tied to and landing just ahead of the collective's Ibiza summer residency at DC10, this release is more than a collection of tracks; it's a celebration of a sound, a scene, and a crew that has grown stronger with every passing year. Shanti Celeste is a vibe. She’s got that magic lightness of touch even when things are getting Jacques Cousteau deep or panel beating heavy. This makes her the perfect candidate for the Sound of Love International 3, channelling the spirit of both those after-hours sessions and the more frivolous daytime boat parties. This is serious music for serious music heads but, after all, everyone is still on holiday. It’s linear and cohesive but plays with the emotions - carnivalesque fun, psychedelic flow-states, heads-down rhythm trax, playful skipping garage, and more abstract moments. Deep joy to deep space and back, often in the space of 3 or 4 well-selected records. 

There’s a deep musical and personal connection to the festival - as she says of her first time playing at the Beach Bar, “there’s a heavy Bristol crew there and it all feels easy and nice. It was just good vibes all round”. And she does make it sound easy too, which belies a DJ with some very serious skills and an ear for a killer tune that others might well overlook. And it’s this that makes the 3rd instalment of the Sound of Love International such a joy - a welcome panacea to all of us suffering from the Croatian blues this year. 

To which end, we get a cheeky exclusive collaboration between Shanti and her sister-in-arms Saoirse in the shape of ‘Solid Mass’. Persian’s uniquely British paean to the post-rave Sunrise ‘Morning Sun’, cavernous dub runnings outta the Bokeh camp from Seekers International. These are the lift- off tunes, setting the mind-state for the journey ahead. 

Things tighten up with cult underground hero Lucas Rodenbush under his E.B.E alias giving us the taught, grooving, dubby tech-house and Gideon Jackson’s ‘Taj Mahal’, crisp, spatial, mystical and criminally slept-on. We go deeper into the night with Perpetual’s Awakenings’, one of those records that is so much more than the sum of its parts. And who knew that Mark Seven was such a dab hand with the dank machine funk? Check 1998’s ‘Crank’ for the skinny. By the time Paco Pack’s rubberised ghetto house reimagining bounces into play it’s GAME OVER. 

The final side leaves us with the soft landing - Cari Lekebusch ‘Output 2’ is both pacey and drifting and Pauline Anna Strom’s ‘In-Flight Suspension’ does what it says, whips away the drums and leaves us floating in space. Will we ever touch down? 

To overuse a phrase, this compilation arrives in strange times but is a glorious reminder of what brought us all together and will again. The music and dancing under the stars. See you in 2021.

Next into the mix series is Josh Caffe - a man you will have no doubt come across at some stage in your musical journey - and if not, you'll almost certainly be grateful for the introduction now. 

It's fair to say Josh is a master of a number trades within music, having made a name for himself as a selector, playing shows from Panorama Bar, live with Hannah Holland, all the way up to one of the world's largest festival crowds, with his residency at BLOCK9 at Glastonbury. 

It's arguably equally, if not more so, as an artist which has enabled Josh to make his imprint on the Sonisphere. His unique production style combined with his vocals has seen him achieve a discography of highly coveted releases on his own label, Night Sheen, as well as outlets such as Nervous Records, Crosstown Rebels, BPitch and Dixon Avenue Basement Jam's to name a few. His collaborations with scene legends such as Honey Dijon and Paranoid London have also received much praise, and certainly worth checking out if you haven't done so already.

This mix encapsulates Josh's penchant and encyclopedic knowledge of selecting in dance music. Notes of Acid, House and Techno combine and echo throughout, providing one of the most intriguing dancefloor temptations we have received in a long while.

Dawn Again is a Melbourne based DJ, producer and record collector whose name is becoming synonymous with warm, fuzzy, soulful house. Labels from Love Above Records to Blind Jack has signed his highly functional dance cuts, and his most recent EP, released on Houseworx, is a statement that should see the producer receive more international acclaim. 2020 has been a busy year for him too, recently releasing the first record on his own label, Enjoyment Division. For this special Novelcast, he has gifted us with a special mix filled with tracks from the late ’90s and early ’00s.
