People of the Light unveil Perpetual Gruv EP, a record that marks a faithful return to the labels deep house roots, an offering of 7 tracks of absolute heat that marks Marcus Watkins' debut on the label. Hailing from Chicago’s rich lineage of dance music innovation, Watkins crafts three original cuts in Club Detroit, Soul Revival, and When I Fly Towards You. A trio that pulse's with a timeless blend of groove and soul. With warm chords, hypnotic bass, keys that keep you moving and reverent nods to the legends before him, Watkins packages his deeper sound into a truly contemporary narrative.

One of the hallmarks of a POTL release is often the remixes and the package as a whole, this time we have Myles Sergé adding depth to the package, the ever-elusive artist steps up with his Naked Parts Remix of Soul Revival, distilling it into a stripped-back, darker meditation that cuts straight to the floor. Label boss Jay Hill brings her own flavour with her distinct D’Lite version of Club Detroit: a deep-rolling extended reworking for late-night escapades, with Jay's uniquely chunky groove. Altogether, Perpetual Gruv EP embodies a return to foundational sounds for the label, always pushing fresh sounds inspired by the roots of everything they love.

People of the Light mark their second all-female-produced release with SuperJaimie’s (@dj-super-jaimie) "You in My Dreams", a snappy vocal cut that trades in atmosphere over spectacle. The original moves on clean percussion and hushed chords, letting a soft-focus vocal carry the emotion without crowding the mix. 

Jay Hill (@jayneuf) keeps the intimacy intact while nudging the drums forward for more club certainty whilst keeping the vibe strong. Meanwhile Subjacent (@subjacentmusic) takes a different route, streamlining into deep, driving Techno drums with a tougher low end and fewer adornments, then pares it back further on the Dub by removing the vocal for tool-room utility. An Instrumental rounds out the release for DJs who prefer the mood without the vocal. 

It’s a versatile package that works from warm-up to late hours, quietly confident and continuing People of The Lights track record of bringing together some incredible artists at the top of their game. 

There’s something magical about “You in My Dreams.” SuperJaimie’s spellbinding vocals glide over beautifully crafted chords, delivering a sound that feels nostalgic yet innovative—evoking echoes of Electrochemie with a signature twist.

Night Currents: 006 Story Telling Sessions: Featuring Jay Hill

Making its way via Philadelphia’s People of the Light imprint, the "You in My Dreams" EP showcases the talents of Charlotte Balibar, the French-born, New York-based artist known as SuperJaimie. The parcel presents the title track in multiple forms, including an instrumental version and reworks from Jay Hill and Subjacent – the latter delivering two interpretations, by the way. The core of the release, however, rests firmly on the original composition, which introduces a certain magic through Charlotte's captivating vocal presence and the track's expertly constructed emotional landscape.

Premiered here, the original mix establishes the foundation for the entire EP. It is a deeply atmospheric piece where SJ's voice becomes the central guide, its ethereal quality feeling both intimate and expansive. The vocal melody glides with a graceful ease over a warm, undulating bed of chords that provide a rich, textural depth. The rhythm section maintains a steady, pulsing groove that grounds the airy elements without ever feeling forceful. This is the definitive version of the track, a perfectly balanced fusion of human touch and electronic design where every component exists in thoughtful harmony.

Radio Vaga Vol. 03 is a two-hour journey through some of the sounds that move me most these days.
I open with smooth yet stompy jazzy and deep-house grooves and slowly build the energy into dance-floor heat, blending new gems with rare edits and timeless classics. Along the way you’ll hear treasures from Atjaz, Franck Roger, Dam Swindle, a beautiful Cratebug rework of Love Hangover. I’ve also included one of my all-time favorites - Butch’s No Worries (the 2022 edit) - plus irresistible cuts from Sidney Charles, whose playful, rule-bending productions always light up a floor.
The trip closes with DJ Pierre’s iconic "What Is House Muzik", freshly re-released on Get Physical Germany yet still as powerful as when it first dropped three decades ago.
This all vinyl mix is crafted for the underground music lover and a testament to the quality and depth of the true House Sounds and its many facets.
