Jacques Cortelyou is a Professional Pianist/Keyboardist/Composer/Producer from New York.  His education is a blend of being self-taught and formal training at Berklee College of Music, where he studied Piano and contemporary writing and production from 1999 to 2001.  Throughout his Professional career, he has performed both in-studio as a session musician and in live settings, focusing on composition, arranging, production, motif, musical structures, and tonal harmony. His advanced knowledge of harmony and Jazz chord voicings is frequently showcased in his recordings.  As a Pianist Jacques's foundations and background are in Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Latin. In addition to Piano he has studied and performed extensively on the B3 Hammond Organ, Fender Rhodes and Hohner Clavinet.  

Jacques has carved out a unique niche as an Electronic musician, producer, and composer. Over the past 20 years, he has crafted music for himself and for DJs at club events and radio streams, delving into Electronic genres such as House, Progressive House, Electro, Ambient, and Drum and Bass. His writing, recording, and live performances, including Live PAs, have captivated audiences worldwide. Jacques believes that creating music and frequency is fundamental to the universe, and each addition to it has a very special meaning.

In his latest creative ventures, Jacques is producing tracks with quick turnaround times, designing statement pieces that prioritize motif, tone, and emotion over heavy production.

He records and writes all of his vocals and meticulously writes, records, edits, mixes, and masters all of his Electronic music using Cubase Pro, Ableton Live, Roland’s VST Instrument Suite, and many others. His Piano styles prominently feature the Piano, Fender Rhodes, B3 Hammond Organ, and vintage synthesizers such as the Roland Juno, Jupiter, and ProMars, adding a rich, timeless quality to his sound.  His favorite and most inspiring Pianists are Herbie Hancock & Chick Corea - their concepts and tones are often found in Jacques' performance style.

He is currently offering limited licensing opportunities to all multimedia sectors, including advertising, web, TV, radio, film, and, of course, DJ mixes and remixes. If you are interested, please reach out. Custom edits are also available to fit your project’s needs.
