You can’t go wrong with Young Marco aka the hottest newcomer from the Dam of late. Marco has been storming international waters with his improv based productions and genre-defying DJ sets, that are like nothing you’ve ever heard before. The A-side serves you a peculiar bit of new-age synthesizer cool, Young Marco signature stuff on this one. On the flip the mastermind behind Dutch cult act De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig makes his second appearance on Dekmantel. Fatima Yamaha aka Bas Bron has been hammering out quality releases under numerous aliases (Seymour Bits, Comtron and Neger Des Heils to name a few), and we are more than pleased to welcome him to the Dekmantel family with this timeless piece of electronic bliss.

Last year's '4' album saw Mr. Luke Vibert's first venture as Kerrier District in over a decade. And a successful venture it was at that – with the album becoming into an essential long player, and ranking as one of Bleep's top albums of 2015, Now, to mark Hypercolour's 50th single release, four of electronic music's heavyweights have brought forward three strong reworkings of 4: Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Head High (aka Shed) and RA Best Live Act of 2015, KiNK – whose remix comes up trumps in our eyes.

In his take on album favourite, "Techno Disco", KiNK deploys a spacey synth melody and a Reese-style bassline – transforming it into an energetic peaktime track, with elements not falling sonically far from a UR record.

After receiving widespread recognition for books like “How Does He Do It?” and “Glorious Misunderstandings,” Maurits Verwoerd decided to start a career as a music producer.

Though few doubted his skills as an artist, most of Maurits neighbours thought different about his compositions, causing him to start producing music in the underground dungeons of Amsterdam. Coming out occasionally, but only at night, slowly made him well known among friends and enemies as Nachtbraker (Dutch for night hawk).

The signs of exposure to a wide range of genres are clearly hearable in his music, ranging from ecstatic slow grooves to unconventional dub tracks. Critics often praise him for adopting a wide pallet of sounds and subtle, detailed percussion. While his celebrated performances receive increasing recognition, it’s unquestionable that Nachtbraker will keep a lot of people comfortably awake for the coming years.

This months Making Waves Underground radio show on Deepvibes Radio was packed with lots of groove, funk, soul, house and disco as we welcomed Daniel Leseman and Hans Peeman from the awesome Fouk to join us for the Guest Mix.

They have been on our radar for some time now and finally had some space in their hectic schedule to supply us with an hours mix for the show and podcast.

With roots are firmly set in the Netherlands ever since they became partners in crime at high school in Nijmegen. Hans took his hand to creative drawing and later this artistic flare started to pay his bills as he became a graphic designer, Daniel’s obsession with music at a young age led him to study sound design and music production. Both the boys ear for music started at a young age and they would sneak up into the attic to play the vinyl they’d collected, annoying the parents as every good child does. Electronic circuits and noise making machines were their next project, until music production became a real possibility.

Daniel started producing dance music under the name 3 Colours and has been using his own name for a few years now, while continuing to teach sound design in Amsterdam, and Hans makes music as Junktion; but their childhood days brought them to collaborating in the studio and the Fouk project was born.

Their first vinyl release as Fouk, on their label Outplay was met with critical acclaim with brilliant reactions to ‘Stuff Your Dad Liked’ and ‘Cat Lady’. Following swiftly on, they produced a formidable remix for Lay-Far on the Swedish Local Talk Records Records. After Detroit Swindle signed them to their Heist Recordings imprint with their very successful Kill Frenzy EP and doing remixes for the likes of Kraak & Smaak and Razor-N-Tape, they gained a lot of attention. With multiple EP’s and remixes coming up, starting with the current Heavy On The Bacon EP on Dairmount’s Room With A View imprint, it’s going to be a very promising year for the guys.

Making Waves Underground Podcast 042 - Fouk

Splendor & Squalour number 3 see’s Brame & Hamo return to their rising imprint. Since the boy’s Ep “Lamaj’s Secrets” on Dirt Crew we have seen them do a string of remixes for labels such as Kolor Ltd, Heist & their very successful remix for Harry Wolfman and Loz Goddard’s “Uncle Buck” on Dirt Crew. All these releases have kept a steady momentum going for the Sligo boys in the house Scene. 

For this ep we have a full 3 tracker consisting of all original cuts. The EP kicks off with “Kebab Dreams” which takes us on a trip to the moon with greasy drums and saucy groove. Up next is the MPC workout “Cert City” paying homage to their hometown of Sligo. Closing the Ep we have “Retch Wretchedness” which takes a darker turn showing us the spookier side of Brame & Hamo while still keeping the jazzy touch. A peak time track for sure.
