Italian dudes BLACK LOOPS & GROPINA coming up with a Lo-Fi Techno version of a classic New York Punk Funk track that will create euophoria on your dancefloor. Berlin's No.1 Garage House DJ Ben Mono doing a R&B - House song that is more sleaze then Pamela Anderson's underwear and last but not least: Spanish born, Berlin living technofunk man MAIK YELLS going deep into breakbeat funk with the Paradigm Shift.

My first big record on a well known and influential label. I gave the music to @Josh Wink and it took him one year to release it, which was pretty normal back in the day. 

“Menina Brasileira” came after I watched a wack movie with Penelope Cruz, ate something wrong and had a bad night’s sleep. The next day I went to the studio with the idea to produce a deep house track. Not a cliché deep house track, but to capture a deep house vibe in a non-deep house track. 

Just listen to the vocal on the flip, “Jacuzzi Games,” and you can imagine the scenario.

Liquid Phonk present another truly sophisticated soulful house groover, a fine, timeless release for delicate dancers and music lovers including lush remixes by Henry L & Ingo Sanger and John Gazoo.

Since the turn of the millennium Liquid Phonk has stood for proper house productions. Over many hours of countless studio sessions Mirko Koenig and Patrick Lesser from the South- West of Germany have formed their very own style and sound.
Their first public appearance was on Patrick Lindsey’s former label “School Records” back in 2000 followed by further EPs until 2004.

After it was getting quiet around Mirko and Patrick, they raised Liquid Phonk back to the surface. Rainer Trueby took notice of their releases on Nick Humphrey’s label “Lifted Digital” and managed a split-release alongside the Cologne producer Sello on “Compost Black Label” in 2012 with their track “Heart & Soul”. Several releases and remixes followed on labels such as Ingo Sänger’s “Farside Records”, “Lost My Dog” and “Something Different”. With the “hardboogie-remix” of Shahrokh Dini’s track “Bechno”, Liquid Phonk returned to Compost Black Label in 2015. In 2016 they are starting with their first solo EP on this label, supported by two stunning remixes by Henry L & Ingo Sänger and John Gazoo.

Some more Mexican music on Quintessentials! This time from long time buddy 4004, another driving force in Mexico and already an established producer with releases on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Ltd or Quintessentials. Mostly doing stuff on his own, Quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with Stuttgart’s Stylus Heat (currently working as Blunted Monks on Philpot). I’m not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you Gerardo, but there are definitely two: you’re a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!

We're back again with our buddies @toytonics and next up on the roster is Frenchman @mangabey-1 with his wobbly synth funk track 'Purple Gutter'. As you'd expect with a TT release the beats are tight, deep and full to the brim with groove. The synths are rich, funky & have just the right amount of modulation. Andy Ash has been quietly sneaking out seriously good analogue-driven electronic music on some of the best underground labels for over a decade. The Liverpool-based producer, DJ and visual artist has graced the likes of Chicago’s Stilove4music, NYC’s On The Prowl, Sydney’s People Must Jam and has remixed Fantastic Man for Detroit label Kolour LTD amongst many others. The bottom line is that he’s definitely one of the UK’s unsung heroes when it comes to deep, raw, Chicago and Detroit-influenced house music and we’re proud to welcome him to Delusions Of Grandeur with an amazing three tracker entitled the Bottleneck EP.

The title track opens with snappy hats, flappy congas and sloppy baseline all sitting perfectly in the mix and with a looseness that is much harder to achieve that it may seem. A simple synth melody doubles up the bassline while an extra square wave lead adds that little extra hook without distracting us from the bouncing groove. With Bottleneck, less is definitely more.

Flipping over we have Hump, an altogether darker affair with a twisting acid line joining distorted 808 drums and tripped-out snippets of spoken word coming in and out of focus. The low-slung bumpy groove and spacey synth parts make this a compelling warehouse track which will draw everyone into it’s seductive confines.

Closing the release we have Actual Price, a shuffling, deep groover with rumbling low end and machine-like analogue synth part skipping around the crunchy beats. A cerebral yet punchy and dynamic closer to an excellent release!
