After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. It earned him outstanding reviews at Resident Advisor ("a display of real power and finesse" 4/5), in DJmag ("a calculated masterpiece" 9,5/10), at XLR8R ("sticks out as an alternate route to the heart of machine music's appeal" 8/10), Groove Magazine ("pulsating techno in which every sonic details fits") and more.

Following the first single “On The Edge / Perplexed” & the second single “Dirtro II” (including the stellar ‘New Device Remix’ by Robert Hood), we now present you the last segment of the series with 2 remixes. On the A-side Rødhåd delivers an epic 10 minute interpretation of the first single ‘Perplexed’, while Robert Hood delivers a second, more minimalistic take on “Dirtro II” for the flip.

A word from Monochord,

hey, i'm Mike
I started producing electronic music in the year 2000 after few years playing the trumpet in a Band.
In the earlier years i often switched my style from trance, progressive psytrance, minimal, techno, house, to my style. A mix between dub techno, deep house, minimal and progressive. 

Formerly i produced music as "Emtex" and "The Tape Headz"

As well i like dubstep wich i perform with another project called Infra Wave 

In 2014 i changed my whole studio setup from computer to 100% hardware wich was also the beginning of my new project "Monochord"

Influences are coming from jam sessions with the hardware gear and several producers like Basic Channel, Brendon Moeller, Luke Hess, Marko Fürstenberg, Quantec, Echospace, Minilogue, Dataline,...

My soundstyle is a mix between dub, dubtech, dub techno, mnml, house and other genres like idm or ambient but i call it Progressive Dub Tech

**FREE DOWNLOAD Part 2** GHSTGHSTGHST - BAD BOY

Following on from last month’s brooding initial F2 release from PVC, we reach out to the expanding Formula Records family, and bring through a double header from Birmingham head Tuff Culture. Mixing up dancefloor styles, the two tracks on offer here take in a range of influences, from speed garage touches, jungle signals and straight up bassline, ‘It Could Be’ / ‘Close’ sees F2 pushing forward into the rave with abandon.

‘It Could Be’ comes across as one part piano house anthem to two parts bassline banger, with added cut up UKG vocals thrown into the mix. A track to stop and take notice of in the dance, this one has been a staple in the sets of Formula head honcho Champion for some time. Meanwhile ‘Close’ comes with stepping house claps and a weighty low-end, topped off by a pure garage melody that harks back to the heyday of Exposure and Garage Nation, whilst the insistent “gangsta” refrain reminds you this one’s for the heads-down crew.

Over the next few months you’ll see a steady flow of digital-only releases from F2 to run in tandem with the current Formula Records output, each one finely honed for maximum impact on your nearest dancefloor.

‘It Could Be’ / ‘Close’ will be available on MP3 and WAV download from 24th July 2015.

London-based DJ/producer @Vorres has been around for a while - worked for Juno, founded @SccucciManucci, is the owner of @Black-venison and has an upcoming EP on a somewhat known label called @defectedrecords. He is a true taste-maker, lover of vinyl and analogue gear - and as he puts it in his own words "I make music, the old fashioned way! I play music the old fashioned way…”. He was kind enough to share a piece of his with us.

The track is burning slow at 110bpm, the ingredients being bouncy percussion, a dash of acid, the vocal samples of a soul diva and last but not least the hats. Just a perfect blend.

There's not really much else to say about this one. The names dropped in the title alone lets your ears know what they're in store for.

Detroit's Burden brothers, more commonly known as Octave One, have been making classic techno from their roots since 1990 – and, much to our pleasure, have continued to produce, DJ and play sensational live sets as though no time has passed. 25 years on, their music still fuels the dancefloors of 2nd gen. techno lovers, as well as being picked up and reworked by modern dance music's most valuable players –  of which Paul Woolford is most certainly one.

When asked about his "Lose Myself" rework, Paul shared that Octave One and their 430 West label "have been inspirations to me for so many years. We met through mutual friends and immediately connected, following various gigs together globally. It was an honour to be invited to work on something for the Detroit label. My intention was to bring out the soulful edge of Octave One's sound and place it within the framework of a track that would work towards the end of the night." If techno be the food of love, play on...
