For their latest release, the Beatport chart-topping duo Tube & Berger are joined by the talented and passionate Juliet Sikora whose role whether at the label, in the studio or in front of a crowd has made her an invaluable asset to the Kittball imprint.
‘Set It Off’ is an archetypal demonstration of the trio’s flair for creating depth within a production. Inspired by Strafe’s 1984 electro funk classic on the same name and spanning everything from retro-synths to techy elements the track is a true illustration of their wide musical compass, with an organic sounding guitar reflecting their early roots in punk music. Never ones to rest on their laurels, this cut is a further string to their evermore impressive bow, coming as it does at the tail end of Tuber & Berger’s most triumphant year to date with a momentum they will unquestionably carry on into the next.

After a successful launch with tracks from Citizen and Ejeca, Loft Records returns with its second single this March, entitled ‘Ghana’ by Dorsia, and backed with reworks from HNNY, 

Jay Shepheard and Roberto Rodriguez. Dorsia is the collaborative guise of British duo Adam Reid and Andy Watson, both artists have been producing individually for quite some time, but have now joined forces and are set to release their debut single via Loft Records here. The pair create melodic, understated electronic music tipped towards the dance floor. Although newcomers under this title, working with such a promising young label and following the footsteps of Ejeca and Citizen, Dorsia are certainly ones to watch in 2014. 

The original mix of ‘Ghana’ opens the single, a gritty, low-slung house number driven by raw analogue bass, crunchy rhythms, smoothly programmed reverb soaked vocal lines and tension building atmospherics to kick off the package in style. Let’s Play House / Local Talk artist HNNY steps in first on remix duties next, reshaping the vibe entirely to generate a stunningly contrasting interpretation. The Swedish producer opts for ever-evolving saw wave bass, rugged drums, meandering melodies and a subtly blossoming dynamism to create a truly classy rework. Then on the latter half of the 12’’ we have two additional remixes of ‘Ghana’, first up is the ever on- point Compost artist Jay Shepheard, who turns in a dubbed out house reshape, fuelled by stabbing bass hits, tension building strings and swirling echoes. While closing the package is Roberto Rodriguez, the Finnish artist delivers a stripped back version, which tips the focus solely towards the groove with bumpy bass tones and heavily swinging rhythms driving the track throughout.

Here we go with our very first exclusive premiere and we've got a corker to get things rolling. Venezuelan duo Fur Coat have kindly given us the first play of the title track from their forthcoming EP 'There's No Time', which is coming out on Jamie Jones' ever popular Hot Creations label.

This new track is a perfect example of their love affair with the sleazier side of house music, razor sharp synth lines cascade over a hefty set of percussion and a rumbling, morose b-line while a pitched-down, barely audible vocal lurks in the background. Second track of the EP is Next is 'Hak' with Philipp Ruhmhardt. Together they have already made waves with their tune, 'Doch' becoming an anthem almost immediately since it's release last May. This time they are back with a stormer that feels like racing through a metropolis at warp speed. Each chord stab is a quick, bright flash of color as the shakers and hi hats impersonate the rapid pulse of a speedometer. 'Hak' is a white knuckle ride.

Steyoyoke Recordings have streamlined their next release, putting forth a single from Aki Bergen titled “I’ve Seen You Around” and it’s quality not quantity that prevails here. Gushing with raw conviction and lasting impressions, the impact of this track is effectually imminent.

Lingering between a passionate sermon and a heart felt lullaby, “I’ve Seen You Around” is adorned with the husky lyrics of vocalist Myriad. The intro is structured with orchestral eccentricities and a tranquil composure, which is a prelude for something more profound, as its underlying power kicks in shortly after. This is courtesy of its attacking bass line, fiery synths, and fluctuating intensity, that echoes the tracks true sincerity.

'Falun' is more upbeat in nature and takes the atmosphere in a new exciting direction but still retains a smokey feel throughout. Introduced with intangible vocal loops and the occasional horn stab, the song sets the mood for a more summery endeavour.
In the breakdown a lazy piano arrangement provides the lethargic atmosphere where an echoey horn emerges from beneath.

Antonio Olivieri presents a sort of tightness and sheen quality in his tracks that grade him a highly skilled and polished producer. Antonio helms a knack of finding inescapable mood and desire in this 3 track EP, ‘Rudiments’: the latest from Steyoyoke, and arguable it’s most exciting output yet.

The EP combines elements of repose and melodic tranquility with dance worthy tracks.  As the title suggests rudimentary components provide the basis, in a way that distinguishes each track to its own dance floor setting.

The title track kicks off in true thumping fashion! The bassline sheds hints of acid, while the hovering synth line rounds the track into a driving dance floor killer! Enticing old school vocal cuts hang loosely over the arrangement.

The somewhat eccentric notions carried in ‘Tiny Nut’, through his trickling hi-hats and descending basslines, creates a wonderful deep house exoticism, that you may find easy to lose yourself in. Somewhere in the middle we find a jacking vocal cut bringing us from under the trees for a brief moment in time. Earthy sounds make this track warm and enticing, but don’t assume it’s not dance floor material, because it is! 

Swirling synth pads and a heavy kick lead the closing track ‘Minna’: a deep expedition in to acid ridden basslines and hypnotic percussions. In the breakdown, distant Spanish vocals help create this mysterious setting.

Antonio Olivieri has provided 3 intensely satisfying tracks for Steyoyoke’s 6th release.  ‘Rudiments’ is an EP rich in mood and atmosphere, and one that is likely to entice any dry dance floor!

Is this Epic? Yes! But be honest, who of you is really reading these press texts? If we'd tell you that P.A.C.O. and Tube & Berger's "Greyjoy" is the dopest cream pie in the gang bang world of music, would you believe us? Not to mention that the flipside "Tyrion" was produced by P.A.C.O. sitting in a cave in the middle of Kasachstan wearing only a pink tanga. What does it matter? So: No more words, just music.
