While some of you might think of Planet Rhythm as one of those old labels from back in the day, it may not necessarily be the correct judgement. Not only is it a product of its past achievements, but it’s also pushing things forward in the present time, with Woo York being one of a few new artists emerging from the imprint’s recent catalogue. That said, 2014 starts with Ukrainian duo taking over Planet Rhythm headquarters as the label’s proprietors and getting in charge of all of its future development.

First out of press is the duo’s own EP highlighting their shift towards brand new, hardware-driven studio setup. From abstract TB-303-ish structures of Acid Rain, through the building peaks of Analogue Swamp, a perfect example of stripping functional techno, to Come Closer’s uplifting trance-y melodies and the closing sequence of Strobe 1, this record is shaping up to be Woo York’s strongest release to date.

Founded in April 2024, Australian imprint DU:RA has quickly mapped out its sound through a series of digital outings, drawing on strands of deep techno, house and bass-driven electronics. The label now marks a new chapter with its first vinyl release, delivered by fellow co-founder n-trip.

The four-track EP highlights n-trip’s approach to sound design and atmosphere, moving fluidly between submerged textures, heavyweight rhythms and raw machine energy. MML' is built around a pounding bass drum and flickering glacial synths, maintaining a taut tension across its runtime.

Since its beginnings within the Euphoria collective in the 90s, Jaime Torrealba aka JIMI has constantly explored the deepest corners of house and minimal music. A central figure in the Chilean scene, he has established his unique style: a subtle combination of stripped-back grooves, hypnotic textures, and a dub-techno approach that has distinguished him for nearly three decades. It is therefore only natural that JIMI today joins the Fantastic Friends family with his new project: Pretty Things EP. This EP presents itself as a sound exploration between minimal sophistication and organic energy. JIMI confirms that he remains an essential voice in the underground scene, loyal to his heritage while constantly seeking new artistic paths.

June 13th 2016 sees Riva Starr’s illustrious Snatch! Records deliver the next instalment within their new compilation series entitled ‘In Dubb Vol.2’, ahead of their forthcoming label showcase during Barcelona’s prestigious ‘Off Week’.

All productions from this impressive 11-track offering have been especially handpicked by Snatch! Other highlights include Metodi Hristov’s slammin’ Tech House roller ‘Kattegat’, Ruben Mandolini’s twitchy House workout ‘Broken Down’ which boasts a very seductive Nina-Simone-esque vocal, the disco-tinged ‘Night Shift’ by Clio & Yvan Genkins and the brilliant hypnotic closing number from Markantonio named ‘Arp’.

In addition, the compilation also delivers a sublime selection of exclusive dancefloor-ready gems from some of House music’s finest established and upcoming artists such as the highly talented Snatch! artists Astin and Upercent, Brazil’s Hardmix, Germany’s Frag Maddin and Italy’s Riky Ild.

“Founded during a cold winter night on the island of Grimsey in Iceland, Abe’s focus and aim is to create and conserve timeless moments through their music. Like a formation of Northern Lights that reveal themselves to their spectators, the music of Abe is developed outside of our modern world and its regulations. It’s dark and soulful techno, both simple and complex.

The title track “Our Land” kicks things off on a lavishly transcendental note, with layers of sounds craftily filling the complete frequency spectrum. A bass heavy synth melody and crisp, precise hats compliment each other skilfully, whilst the drums and effects used provide the piece with a much-appreciated organic feel. The over eight minute composition morphs and builds without being obtrusive and is sure to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide.

Next up is the menacing “Black Horse”, which boils gently until it erupts for an ultimate peak time climax. Here we see Abe focusing on the darkest side of their work, fusing a howling bassline with a thrilling arpeggiated melody, energetic shakers and a distinct midrange synth motif. Fairmonts Brothers Keeper EP (BEDDIGI123) was a beacon of creative originality and his eagerly awaited follow-up Scropulus EP unveils another immaculate 3-track electronic collection. His ability to fuse well-crafted songwriting with powerful electronic attitude, whilst incorporating seemingly disparate and unexpected elements into his truly original creative palette, continuously drives Fairmont out there, into his own exceptional artist space. In 2014 he commenced DJing as well as playing live and has built a serious reputation and ever-expanding fanbase for his trippy and propulsive sets as he tours every continent on the globe.
