Prenzlau rooted artist Original Peter shows off his production dibs in his first addition to the Kuukou catalog, his brand new "Moonlight" EP, encasing two original tracks, a remix and a collaboration.

A dark soundscape introduces "Moonlight", by the way of a winding, slow building up intro. Metallic synths and a thumping bassline add to the relentless pace, while semi-distorted vocals pierce the ambiance, breaking off tension. The title track essentially offers an eerie late night tech exploration fit for warming up any setting.

Together with artists such as Rene Bourgeois, Nico Pusch, Monova, Dennis Rema, Red Rooms, Copilco and Martin Kleinert, we have generated something new again from already released tracks. We all share the same love for technoid, bass-heavy music. Everything is connected and has a meaning, even if this sense is often hidden, we know that we are close to our true mission when our actions are imbued with the energy, the driving tones, the oppressive bass and the enthusiasm. So we forged an interlocking chain of synthesizer, drums, pads, claps and leads to create something new, tangible. Don’t be fooled by the ominous title, it’s a family affair this one! Simina Grigoriu teams up with sibling Moe Danger and life partner Paul Kalkbrenner on the Shark Island EP, with K-Paul on remix duties and a special appearance by the label’s youngest member, Paul & Simina’s daughter. 
The title track sets the tone with throaty vocal chops that add mystery to its clacking percussion and devilish synth lead. The effect is an intense build up, with the tension gradually released in the second half, by the way of dreamy synth arpeggios that lighten up the overall mood. Kalkbrenner applies a staccato feel that tilts towards a more bouncy version of the original. Giving the track new life through a novel melody, it evolves into a deeply affecting piece, as its pulsating rhythm keeps the energy at a constant high. 
You might know K-Paul as the electrifying half of the 90’s dance duo Lexy & K-Paul, a trait that applies to his production style, as well as in his remixing effort for Shark Island. With a more enigmatic, hyper- gradual release technique, this particular remix unveils jarring electro synths with brooding countermelodies.
