Dans ce disque à sortir sur le label Brainfeeder (Flying Lotus, Gaslamp Killer, ...) Daedelus nous présente www.pingpong.fr
la bande son d'un passage sombre de l'histoire de la Chine, la Révolte des Boxers. Mais comment une
histoire aussi ancienne peut-elle inspirer l'electro d'aujourd'hui ? Et bien, comme à son habitude, Daedelus
a trouvé une certaine pertinence entre ces évènements épiques d'un autre temps et les maux actuels.
La Révolte des Boxers fut initiée par les Poings de la justice et de la concorde (Righteous Fists of Harmony
en anglais), une société secrète pratiquant le Kung Fu - ou « boxe chinoise », d'où le surnom de Boxers - et se
déroula en Chine entre 1899 et 1901. Ces résistants avaient une grande foi en leurs pouvoirs magiques : ils
se croyaient invincibles aux balles, capables de voler et de vaincre la mort. Malheureusement, 100 000
d'entre eux ont succombé aux machines de guerre ennemies, puisque l'épisode se termina par la victoire
des huit nations alliées contre la Chine (Autriche-Hongrie, France, Allemagne, Italie, Japon, Russie,
Royaume-Uni et États-Unis).
Daedelus parvient ici à composer un requiem, sur la n des croyances, des vies, et d'une époque. Cette
élégie pour cette guerre d'antan fait la lumière sur notre propre énigme contemporaine : où notre conance
en la modernité nous mènera-t-elle ? Sommes-nous aveuglés par cette époque d'émerveillements, et
abrutis par tant d'inventions incroyables ? Bien que Daedelus ait toujours construit sa musique en juxtaposant
éléments organiques et électroniques, ceux-ci s'arontent plus que jamais sur "Righteous Fists of
Harmony", le portrait d'un passage tumultueux qui n'a jamais été aussi proche de nous.
Daedelus sortira son prochain album sur Ninja Tune, intitulé 'Bespoke', n 2010 début 2011.
