Starry Night (feat. Mondo Loops)

With a boom-boom bap, Saï T is back — now with more lofi crunch. This head-knocking beat is the second instalment in Inner Ocean’s Lofi Snacks series and has the hallmarks of a Saï T beat, influenced by greats like Dilla and Stlndrms; hypnotically chopped samples, scintillating swing, and a sprinkle of Sp 404 flavour. Originally produced for a daily beat video series on his Instagram, the beat is more than just a one-off — it’s also emblematic of a time where the love of beats took precedence over producing and selling beats online to fit an industry standard. Doing it for the fun of it: not overrated in the least.

The French-born producer Saï T, now based in Reunion Island, has built a signature sound with guitar and drums at the center without relying on rigid rules for how good beats are born. One day it may be creatively chopping samples, the other might be about picking up a guitar and writing a simple chord progression. The free-flowing of inspiration is afforded to musicians gifted with a natural intuition and an early-grown discipline for music-making. The result of which is a varied and expressive catalogue, full of infectious personality.

We all want a vacation. To turn off our brains and let our natural inclinations bend toward what gives us inspiration. With Tenda Senda and PiPou’s Alphabet EP we get our time away. It’s a lush fantasy, created from clear-headed arrangements of guitar, keyboard, and bass. The chosen single Six Pack is a slow build for the senses, where sunny dispositions and an appreciation for simplicity well up inside. The evocative title-track Alphabet is determined to keep us in our feelings, stretching them out into a warm meditation. And with the dream-like Tyavu, the entire project occupies the lovely space between chill-out, lofi, and electronica.

For our first edition of Lofi Snacks, we welcome Komachi: a Japanese artist living in Europe with a love for lofi’s warmth and easy-going nature. Komachi opens up the Snacks series with two tender and nostalgia-laden tracks, the second in collaboration with Czech beat-maker, Enoki. Smile and hit play for a 10% happier day.

Komachi is a new arrival on the lofi scene and an accomplished artist who values his anonymity. He’s traversed many electronic styles over the years, embracing a natural curiosity along the way. When you hear Komachi’s music, it’s easy to appreciate this enthusiastic approach. It’s just pure and honest fun.

Into Change is an album about letting go. While home is always home, sometimes leaving it is the only way to dive into new possibilities and leave behind a life of stagnation. For Arvo to me, this meant literally moving to an island town off the Swedish mainland to study and let inspiration take hold, welcoming new events, feelings, and friends. The space between old and new is often so gradual to be lusciously liminal, a feeling of dreamy optimism and slow momentum fully felt on tracks like kolhii (with Midnatt), critic, and diver. Altogether, it’s an imaginative and scintillatingly chill album to excite every pixel of the mind.

Koralle and Kuranes are probably the two of the most inspiring and successful beat makers from Italy. As it happens, they are both from Bologna and they have been friends for a long time. Strangely enough they never did music together until now! “Cobalto” is their first joint single and a sure shot for listeners who like their beats jazzy and dope!
