Austrian angels Erik Asatrian and Emma Robatjazy, better known as EXEA, are one of the most exciting duos to pass through the Soulvent camp in recent years. Their fresh and unique approach to drum & bass songwriting and production has been scintillating in our Dropbox folders for almost 12 months now, and it is our utter pleasure to finally share the output with you! The streets have been asking for something more substantial from the Alps, so it’s only right that we finally deliver the goods, in the form of the debut EXEA EP titled ’Raw Emotions’. 

3rd single from the EP ‘Carry You’ begins with some delightful tropical foley, and a flourish of synth-soundscapes which give way to Emma’s delightful voice. The lyrics are thought-provoking and aurally pleasurable in equal measure. Erik carries himself just as impressively with the high energy drums and driving synths at the drop belying the calmness of the intro. The breakdown is also a technically impressive half-time affair, melding funk, soul and Emma’s wonderful vocals in a period of brief respite before you’re carried right back into the fray. This track will absolutely have you moving from start to finish.

Reflected across overlapping dimensions born of divergent causal chains, the single thread of an age-old story spun its wondrous tale time and time again, each new weaving of its tapestry of tales garbed in novel forms but resounding with a similar refrain. In a land dominated by the sea, two haggard sailors set sail in search of the knowledge that lay beyond the horizon. In a land of heroes and legends, two knights quested for that which would rid their kingdom of a sorcerer’s malevolent curse. In the lands of a far distant future, a novel pharmaceutical allowed its patients to delve into the knowledge of their ancestors, watching the events of their lives as a silent observer to the collective memory that all held within. In the primal lands that lay under the cold embrace of a black sun, three wolves set out for new hunting grounds across the frigid north.

In each & every dimension, these linked souls each sought the treasure of knowledge lost, held in stasis by its isolation and eagerly awaiting its rediscovery. The mystical draw of such knowledge was constant, its tendrils of influence stretching beyond planar boundaries as it spurred those who heard its call to new feats of heroism. Thus it was in each of these dimensions, and thus it was in a final land, one in which two cowboys rode into the depths of the wilderness and in which saloons would soon sing the ballad of Scrugss & Sonny Jim.

EATBRAIN & BURR OAK unveil the Somewhere It's Reborn remixes, a mammoth companion work of collaborative effort to the original album that sees twelve of its tracks remixed and reimagined by a hand-selected list of like-minded sonic explorers to the twin minds behind BURR OAK.
