EATBRAIN presents the debut EP from the enigmatic production duo known as Zombie Cats - "Must Eat" EP! Having crawled from the vortex earlier this year - bursting onto the neurofunk scene with two massive tracks on Eatbrain's Tales of the Dead LP - the ultra-talented duo isn't wasting any time unleashing their next dancefloor invasion. Their latest offering sees Zombie Cats raise the pressure with four tracks, featuring top-rate collaborations and produced with the consistency and quality of seasoned veterans. Zombie Cats collude with Mefjus on the titular 'Must Eat', an eerie dancefloor concoction replete with sinister whispers, heavy rhythms and futuristic sound design. Classic Eatbrain vibes. Atlanta, USA-based Logam features on the weighty 'Vintage', while MC Kryptomedic leaves his mark on the ruthlessly technical 'Upgrade'. Zombie Cats rounds the EP out with the diverse neuro stepper 'Moments of Truth'. True versatility from this fast-rising duo, who are proving to be a powerful force in drum & bass. Individually, the Zombie Cats each bring the heat; if you look around, they have been for years. But together, the producers form something greater (and scarier) than the sum of its parts. This track was inspired by my trips to Germany, and Austria, and spending time with guys like Phace and Mefjus. The name represents the swinging bassline, two notes in tandem with each other, having a call and response. I loved the visual image it brings, but the track was only an idea when a good friend convinced me to finish it. Simplistic, but straight to the point.

It has been a year and 5 months since we've had our first ever release. We wanted to do something special when we've hit the one year mark but unfortunately due to the world being upside down and with all the uncertainty regarding pretty much every aspect of human life, we've had to delay the celebration a little bit. It actually turned out very well and we are over the moon with what we are about to unveil. 

After 11 releases since we started operating we decided it was time to do something we will try to make a tradition of: every year we want to have artists we really look up to remixing tracks that came out on our beloved imprint taking a completely different approach on some of the tunes that make our brand live on. 

For our 1st edition of "The Voice of Ekou - VA Remixes Compilation" we managed to gather 9 artists that are in our eyes the full spectrum of what we have to offer in terms of Drum and Bass. And with no further delays we would like to present the names that actually don't need any introduction. The artists involved in this project are: A K A; Creatures; Ill Truth; Molecular; NickBee, Nymfo, Phentix; Rizzle and last but not least Volatile Cycle. 

Some of these names are some usual suspects in our label and some others are some producers we rate very highly! We hope you like this release as much as we do! Enjoy the 9 awesome remixes these guys came up with. These will be out on the 5th of February. #thisisthevoiceofekou

Deep within the woods, the mouth of a cave uttered forth a haunting melody wrought of metal on stone and the twisted yowls of a beast so surely gone mad. It’s limestone passageways warped these sounds, reverberating them off of their walls and through the cool underground air that served as a carrier for their transmission. None nearby knew what lay within, only that such sounds warranted nothing but the forbiddance of the entire clearing near the cave, lest one who strayed there be taken by their demonic influence. Thus it was, thus it had been, and thus, prayed the nearby inhabitants, it always would be. Then, the noises stopped.

The quiet was celebrated at first, a sign of old demons exorcised by the faith of the local population. Within the furthest reaches of the cave however was not a demon expelled, but rather a demon reborn. Slowly, a lithe feline form came to its feet, shaking off both the chains that had bound it and portions of its own rotted flesh in a single ripple of its primal musculature. It moved almost silently through the cave, save for the occasional scratch of claw against rock as it contorted its monstrous form to squeeze through the narrow passageways of its ages old prison, which shore of yet more of its rotted flesh as a toll for passage. Driven the burning cold of a long forgotten grudge, the beast clambered forwards, vowing to itself to slaughter those who had bound it here so long ago. There within the cave, emerging from darkness pitch black, the beast’s predatory yowl was that of the ZOMBIE CATS.

Following the recent debut of their eponymous imprint label and the release of their album “Mutation”, the ZOMBIE CATS return to EATBRAIN and lead the EATBRAIN horde on a sonic prowl with CHAINS, and EP bound by the feline frenzy of their signature sound.
