Take Control', the latest single from UK producer Alan Fitzpatrick features the creative genius of his 10 year old son, Mylo Fitzpatrick. 

Kettle drum kicks and a rolling low end are paced by claps and a spritely swung hat line. Melodics build the tension to the first break where a female voice tells us to ‘let the music take control’. Fully responsive, nuanced acid and far away trance pads act as a brief oasis of calm before the final drop explodes from the speakers.

Alan Fitzpatrick is back with a three-track EP that encapsulates what Alan’s Drumcode sound is all about. Hard-hitting drums that fire down onto the dance floor like cannon balls. Check! Intense key patterns that are as twisted as they are uplifting. Check! Beautiful melodies that seamlessly interlock with each element. Check! Big-sounding, infectious grooves and killer hooks generously sprinkled with the infamous Fitzpatrick magic over the top. CHECK! In short, this EP is everything we have come to expect from Alan over his long history with Drumcode (this is his 10th EP as a solo artist!), but still his sound remains fresh and super-charged for 2014.

We could spend the next three paragraphs banging on about the monumental impact our first release ‘We Do What We Want’ had, but to be totally honest with you, we are tired of the track now and just want to move on to the raft of equally amazing music we have lined up for release on We Are The Brave.
 
However, in case you were living under a rock this summer, the key facts you should make a note of are as follows: it was the unofficial anthem for ravers from Hideout Festival to Creamfields. Annie Mac went mental for it on Radio 1. We got snapchats from school kids buzzing off the track and tweets from retailers playing it in their shops. It was even heard in KFC! And our soundcloud stream went into virtual meltdown clocking up 315K listens in under three months.
 
So yeah, not much to live up to…  but you know what? We Are The Brave, we do what we want… and we want to get on to release number two! It’s called Friday Night Dancing. It’s by Alan Fitzpatrick. Skream is on the remix. Nuff said!

2016 was a standout year for Alan Fitzpatrick, with the Drumcode stalwart racing out of the gates in spectacular fashion with the release of his fabric 87 mix. A substantial amount of high profile shows followed, including appearing at the inaugural Junction 2 festival and closing the car park to a packed-to-the-rafters-crowd at Drumcode Halloween. He returns to Drumcode with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, marking his first appearance on the label since late 2016 when he remixed Moby’s seminal ‘Porcelain’.

The release opens with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, a track which caused a Twitter meltdown on Alan’s profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. It’s a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. ‘Wait A Second’ feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of Adam Beyer’s sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on Drumcode Radio. This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25. The release closes with ‘Trance, Init?’; A homage to Alan’s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave label has been busy laying down foundations for the past twelve months. The run-away success of their debut single “We Do What We Want” is far from the entire story. Much of the last year has been spent “getting their hands dirty”; nurturing new talent (such as Boxia, whose “Point Of No Return” hit set summer stages alight), developing and establishing an events concept (via WATB parties in Manchester, London, Glasgow and Ibiza), and gathering like-minded artists and their music together to support the labels burgeoning release schedule. 

We Are The Brave was set up as a community. At the core of this enterprise is the spirit of collaboration. A partnership between like-minded creatives. An alliance between artists and fans. A hub for sharing ideas and for working together. Nowhere has this spirit been most apparent than between the growing partnership between Alan Fitzpatrick and Darius Syrossian. Individually, they are both figureheads of brands and headliners in their own right, however, both are open-minded enough to realize that they are stronger together than they are competing for every inch of space within an increasingly overcrowded market.   

“It’s great to see how Alan operates. It's normal for him to be a resident for a party like Do Not Sleep in Ibiza but at the same time pushing his own We Are The Brave brand and instead of this creating a conflict, he manages to create a win-win for all sides. He is such a down-to-earth and humble guy but he makes unreal music and brings just as much passion when he DJs.”   

Indeed, it is that same unpretentious sentiment that is at the core of Syrossian’s “Made For Manchester”, as Syrossian explains, “I was a weekly resident in Manchester from 2008 to 2015 and the city means the world to me as a built a strong connection with the crowd there. I don’t get to play the city as often as I’d like now due to my touring schedule, so I wanted to make a track for the city, one that I know has my signature sound but also an emotive feel to show home much love I have for Manchester”. 

And Syrossian’s thoughts on Fitzpatrick’s remix? “I love the fact that Alan can bring old skool rave sounds back into his music while keeping it underground. My original is quite heavy in parts and the breakdown is very main room, but Alan has put a perfect twist on the original and together the two tracks make for a perfect package”

999999999 is an abstract concept from the minds of two people who do not feel the need to define it. It is spontaneous, random, unlimited. This project, officially started in July 2016, has already affected several important Clubs and Parties in different cities in Europe and aroused much interest even outside the continent. First two releases on their label "Nine Times Nine" and the most recent appearance on Planet Rhythm special "303" vinyl release were immediately sold out after few hours. Live is what they are whether in or out of the studio, they are spontaneous. Improvisation with hardware is the key element of their performance and is impossible to replicate.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint has undoubtedly laid down seriously solid foundations. Now well into double figure, the label’s catalogue is forming into a formidable body of work with Alan’s anthemic ‘We Do What We Want’ backed up with a string of club bangers from Gary Beck, Reset Robot and Boxia, plus Fitzpatrick’s mammoth ‘El Jefe’ collaboration with Sasha, which closed out the labels 2017 release schedule in grand style.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Fitzpatrick is back in the driving seat and raring to go again. “I feel a real strong energy right now around the label and I am massively focused on pushing on from the really great start We Are The Brave has enjoyed”, he enthuses. To be fair it is not hard to see why with landmark occasions such as the highly anticipated (and totally sold out) 5000 capacity Alan Fitzpatrick’s Day Festival happening in Dublin on 17th March. After all, who can argue with that most over-used of clichés - fortune favours the Brave!

Of course, Alan’s first release of the year is a mega one. “These tracks have all been born in a different time and space, ranging all the way back in 2015 through to the end of last year. But I think together they fit well, which goes to show that like everything really, but certainly anything creative, it doesn’t make sense to rush things” says Alan

Lead track ‘Colour Of A Dream’ comes with cleverly crafted percussion and energetic claps alongside a dominant vocal, making the track instantly recognizable in the depths of any dancefloor. “I found myself looking back through old hard drives and I guess I found a lot of fresh inspiration from rediscovering music. It feels good to know an idea that has been lay dormant can all of a sudden become relevant, given the right time and space” adds Alan.

Next up, surging with fierce authority is ‘Joy Rider’ with its trademark thumping Fitzpatrick kick drum. A ravey synthetic hook line creates a gritty warehouse vibe, which is in complete contrast to the melodic, end-of-night-euphoria experience that is ‘Together Until The End’ - a truly musical work that oozes texture and emotion.

Following his impressive remix for Mark Broom, label boss Luca Agnelli is back in full force on Etruria with his new ‘Raveolution’ EP.

With its 90’s flavour kicking things off and its powerful 909 groove, ‘Raveolution’ opens the release in style. ‘Forget It’ heightens the rave atmosphere with its continual rolling stabs and a sultry vocals sample.

‘No Gravity’ takes us to the dark side, with its relentless groove and deep chord sequence creating an unforgettable hook. Luca closes the EP with ‘Shimmer’, a fresh and hypnotic tool of peak-time BPM perfection.
