Italy’s fastest rising name in house and techno returns to the respected Drumcode imprint with this blistering new 4-track EP, ‘Climax’. Featuring a distinctive vocal sample crescending over a typically thumping bassline, opening lead track ‘Climax’ grows gradually with the introduction of a single synth note and skipping hi-hats. Two beatless breakdowns increase the pressure whilst a new synth melody is introduced in the second, making for a powerful ending as all the elements join together.

‘Boost’ starts out deep and dark, with a high-pitched call echoing over a determined beat. The track changes course mid-way through with the introduction of a bassy, low-pitched synth melody, helping ‘Boost’ evolve into a catchier, more playful track.

‘Spectre’, a no-nonsense closing piece featuring a jittering synth note, rattling hi-hats and a trademark tension-filled breakdown.

‘Over The Clouds’, as its name would suggest, is the gentlest of the four tracks. Filled with dusty textures over a rumbling bassline, twinkling synths move in waves before lower-pitched chords join, adding a real sense of depth to this production.

Overall, ‘Climax’ is an outstanding example of Faraone’s ear for detail as a producer: his experience as both a resident and touring DJ clearly feeds into his skill for manipulating tension in his productions like he does on the dancefloors. Having recently warmed up for Adam Beyer at Tenax, Marco Faraone’s relationship with the iconic label continues to grow.

‘Bang The Box (Slam remix)’ retains the all-conquering vocal of the original, but plunges the track down into propulsive depths with more aggressive percussion and atmospheric synth stabs. 

Richie Hawtin provided the following comment on the remix: “Released in the early 90s, the original Jack Master EP was a pseudo-name that I used to record fun classic Chicago inspired tracks that were made for my DJ sets.  Slam’s new updated take on the original, uses the original voice sample (that’s actually mine) and reworks the track into a full throttle stomping jack track perfect for todays dance floors!”

Hot on the heels of the A-Sides Volume 5 compilation, Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Drumcode with his highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’. The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, Drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where Layton Giordani is now a name firmly within that line up.

The New York born, but now EU based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via Drumcode with his track “Rivington” on the A-Sides Vol5 compilation in 2016. 

Consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. Successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

2016 was a standout year for Alan Fitzpatrick, with the Drumcode stalwart racing out of the gates in spectacular fashion with the release of his fabric 87 mix. A substantial amount of high profile shows followed, including appearing at the inaugural Junction 2 festival and closing the car park to a packed-to-the-rafters-crowd at Drumcode Halloween. He returns to Drumcode with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, marking his first appearance on the label since late 2016 when he remixed Moby’s seminal ‘Porcelain’.

The release opens with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, a track which caused a Twitter meltdown on Alan’s profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. It’s a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. ‘Wait A Second’ feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of Adam Beyer’s sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on Drumcode Radio. This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25. The release closes with ‘Trance, Init?’; A homage to Alan’s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave brand has well and truly landed. Their debut sold-out club shows, held over one weekend at the end of March were preceded by three barmy house parties live broadcast from the homes of fans, and a host of well received singles have now come and gone, setting the tone for followers to expect the unexpected from the label with their self styled motto of We Do What We Want. 

It is then with a nonchalant shrug of the shoulders and poker face glare that We Are The Brave dish out their latest offering, ‘You Got Me’. As Fitzpatrick goes on to explain:

“Brave will always be the most natural home for my music, whether it be a familiar style to listeners or not. The whole point is that we are building an excitement around the music being released by not following a particular pattern or pandering to expectation. Hopefully I’ve made the point over the first three releases that We Are The Brave is about going with a flow and not letting preconceptions limit your experience, so its about time we released a good old Fitzpatrick rave banger, init!” 

Even the most fleeting of listens to the intro of thumping kick drums, precision crafted percussion and thunderous claps will give a strong clue that Fitzpatrick is back at the controls this time out. By the time the cut is in full throttle just after the two-minute mark then you can sense the knowing looks starting to shoot about the room as the familiar feeling grows. Luckily for anyone still unsure, all doubt is cast off at the half way point when the rave pads and breakbeats rip on from nowhere followed in hot pursuit by the "classic" Emmanuel Top "Play It Loud" you got me burning up vocal.

Some more recent converts to Alan Fitzpatrick may not be fully aware of the depth of his catalogues, never mind the 20+ years discography that Slam have behind them or indeed the history of remix collaboration between the two that goes back to 2010. However, despite the heavy dosing of hoovers and horns on their You Got Me rework, this Slam Track Series remix is all about the here and now as Glasgow’s techno kings turn in another example of the fine form they find themselves on right now.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave label has been busy laying down foundations for the past twelve months. The run-away commercial success of their debut single “We Do What We Want” was just the start, and have since been setting the standards.

The label boss himself makes his welcome return to the label this October, with Magnetic Dog. The original comes laced with slicing hats, crispy yet superbly deep thundering kicks and a cheeky dose of acid thrown in for good measure.

Alan wrote the original back in 2016 and waited for that special remix to finalise the package. Always a supporter of Marcus Intalex and his productions, under his Trevino moniker he delivered a masterfully deep rework, taking down the tempo and achieving a euphoric cut of the original.

Burrows is back! Following last year's hit "All Your Dreams", Gary returns to Respekt with a worthy successor in "Burning". Fusing his trademark rave influences with uncompromising drums and a DnB-inspired break, Burning is pure fire.
The remix comes from Dave Sinner, who dials back the tempo and cranks up the groove for a wicked, percussive re-think.
As if those two weren't enough, Gary also provides the relentless "Reaper One" and the shuffling acid of "Can't Hold Back" to complete the package.

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint has undoubtedly laid down seriously solid foundations. Now well into double figure, the label’s catalogue is forming into a formidable body of work with Alan’s anthemic ‘We Do What We Want’ backed up with a string of club bangers from Gary Beck, Reset Robot and Boxia, plus Fitzpatrick’s mammoth ‘El Jefe’ collaboration with Sasha, which closed out the labels 2017 release schedule in grand style.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Fitzpatrick is back in the driving seat and raring to go again. “I feel a real strong energy right now around the label and I am massively focused on pushing on from the really great start We Are The Brave has enjoyed”, he enthuses. To be fair it is not hard to see why with landmark occasions such as the highly anticipated (and totally sold out) 5000 capacity Alan Fitzpatrick’s Day Festival happening in Dublin on 17th March. After all, who can argue with that most over-used of clichés - fortune favours the Brave!

Of course, Alan’s first release of the year is a mega one. “These tracks have all been born in a different time and space, ranging all the way back in 2015 through to the end of last year. But I think together they fit well, which goes to show that like everything really, but certainly anything creative, it doesn’t make sense to rush things” says Alan

Lead track ‘Colour Of A Dream’ comes with cleverly crafted percussion and energetic claps alongside a dominant vocal, making the track instantly recognizable in the depths of any dancefloor. “I found myself looking back through old hard drives and I guess I found a lot of fresh inspiration from rediscovering music. It feels good to know an idea that has been lay dormant can all of a sudden become relevant, given the right time and space” adds Alan.

Next up, surging with fierce authority is ‘Joy Rider’ with its trademark thumping Fitzpatrick kick drum. A ravey synthetic hook line creates a gritty warehouse vibe, which is in complete contrast to the melodic, end-of-night-euphoria experience that is ‘Together Until The End’ - a truly musical work that oozes texture and emotion.
