Slade primary school  Junior Choir

Audio Obscura is an award-winning immersive sound work by poet and novelist Lavinia Greenlaw. Originally intended for London's St Pancras International Station, it works well in any busy railway station. In an aural equivalent to the camera obscura, the audience enter the crowd and start to hear the voices of those around them, saying the things they don’t know they want to say.

It is essential to use noise-cancelling headphones. Listeners are encouraged to post their experiences of the work on the audio timeline.

St Laurence’s School Choirs were founded in 1998 when the school became a full-stream Primary School.   All children from 2nd to 6th classes are eligible to join the choirs and at present there are approximately sixty in the Junior Choir and fifty in the Senior Choir.   Children practice on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings before the start and at the end of official school classes.
The forty-six children in the Senior Choir are taught a varied repertoire of choral work – encompassing Classical, Modern, Secular and Religious Music.   Children sing at appropriate school events and participate in local Feisenna and Cultural events.     
Every year the Senior Choir has a busy Christmas season recording carols and leading the school’s annual Carol Service which is always the highlight of the many events held for parents during the Christmas Season. The Senior Choir recently sang in various competitions for the Kilcoole Feis in November 2015 and subsequently sang at the turning on of the Christmas lights in Greystones.  The Senior Choir is currently learning the repertoire for the Dublin Peace Proms 2016 and will be performing in the RDS in early February 2016. 
The children were recorded in the local studio of Dominic Mulvany, who assures the choir he is very happy to record for this competition every year.   
The choir is excited about taking part in this competition and hope their submission  will be played on air during this coming Christmas Season.

This is a long-overdue homage to one of the best house labels ever conceived. At only ten releases long, and almost entirely created by both The Timewriter and Terry Lee Brown Jr., Driftwood hit the mark every single time with some of the smoothest deep house around. 

It took me quite a while to complete the series, not to mention a good amount of money, but the hunt was worth every penny. I've owned the entire series for about six years now, but just now am finally getting around to compiling a mix of only driftwood tracks. 

Total respect goes to the Driftwood label, Jean F. Cochois AKA The Timewriter, Norman Feller AKA Terry Lee Brown Jr., Hakan Lidbo, Robi Uppin, and Jonathan Axelsson. Special thanks goes to my friend Travis Wolf for originally pointing this label out to me back in 2002 and for kicking off an obsessed passion for this Imprint.

Eric Cloutier - Driftwood Records Mix

Well, I promised you a strange variety of genres and, if I'm being true to my 'sound diary', then I have to include this stuff too.
I recorded this solo violin improv for a short horror film soundtrack, without knowing the plot of the film or the context in which it was being used. In its final form it's very different but I thought I would share the 'raw' free improvised version.
I created quite an elaborate set for myself to play in, including a huge Edwardian wardrobe, mirrors, the scary garden decoration pictured and stupid amounts of fairy lights. I was actually trying to scare myself, it didn't work that well, but it did make me feel I was performing for someone.
