Apricot Ballroom/Joi La Frique Guest Mix Dub/Dancehall/Hiphop

Ivy Barkakati is a Barcelona-based dancefloor doyen with music out on Hospital Productions and Modern Obscure Music, and vocals gracing tracks by Cardopusher, Furious Frank / Mind Dance, and Roza Terenzi. She recently teamed up with Venezuelan producer Phran to form IVAN, and on their Delicious Fantasy EP they make soundtrack music for transcendent dancing experiences. She celebrates the imminent release of remixes to that EP with a mix full of soulful delights.

Drone Time Podcast #030 | DJ Monchan

Hailing from The Land of the Rising Sun, Toshihiro Moriguchi aka DJ Monchan relocated to New York City in the early 90's and deeply immersed himself in the local, underground dance scene, meeting innovators and trendsetters at venues such as The Loft, Sound Factory, Sound Factory Bar, Tunnel, Twilo and Paradium.

He established himself early on working behind the scenes at several record outlets. Toiling beside legends such as Charlie Grappone from Vinylmania enhanced his appreciation for house and disco. At EKS Vinyl Plant, he witnessed and took part in production. Presently he can be found at East Village (fka Lower East Side) institution A-1 Record Shop, curating the house and techno sections over at one of the world's best record shops (so we can assure you his taste is like no other!).

As longtime supporter of NYC's underground and moved to contribute to its community, DJ Monchan directs and operates Dailysession, where he spins and hosts local, upcoming DJs as well as established veterans.

Not surprisingly from his devotion of putting together mixed sets, Toshi, as he is known to his friends, has grown into a producer. Inspired by early 90's house music, DJ Monchan has been spinning many genres and producing disco edits and deep house music over a decade in NYC. With releases on his own Dailysessions Records, Downtown 304, Razor-N-Tape, Cut My Records and Jerome Derradji's Stilove4music, he continues paving the way for his passion.

Today, Toshi is one of NYC's finest underground house hero and is known to those in the know. We're beyond excited to have the Brooklynite on board, providing us with two hours of smooth and soulful goodness for this new instalment of our Drone Time Podcast series. Enjoy the journey!
