As summer begins to close here in the mountainous city of Ithaca, NY I can feel rigamortis setting in. The cold air is sneaking its way through the cracks of my dorm room and the skies are slowly but surely greying day by day. As all of these changes are happening around me I can feel my distance from my home Atlanta, Ga growing further and further leaving behind not only my memories as a little southern black boy, but also that little southern black boy all together. 

The next week will be a reflection of this transition I have, and am still going through as a boy struggling with becoming a man

Our Latest Compilation is the next installment of Closed Sessions’ lauded compilation series that stretches back to 2010’s Closed Sessions Vol. 1. At the heart of this series is a spotlight on emerging hip hop talent, and the power of collaboration. Past installments featured future stars such as Action Bronson, Curren$y, Vic Mensa, Skyzoo, and Freddie Gibbs as well as bonafides Bun B and Raekwon. For Our Latest Compilation, Closed Sessions has recruited fast risers such as Kemba, Open Mike, Khary, Dave B, Mother Nature and more. The whole project was produced by emerging producer BoatHouse, who served as the backbone of the album and provides a cohesive style that molds to each emcee without becoming disjointed or losing himself to his collaborators. The LP features artists from all over the country, who all touched down at The Closed Sessions studio making this a national project with a strong Chicago feel.
