On the brink of the apocalypse, a surreal scene unfolds under glowing neon lights. People are gathered, not in panic, but in a vibrant celebration of the moment. They sip on mysterious, vivid drinks, each a concoction of the unknown. The air hums with the rhythm of cosmic disco, a soundtrack that seems to defy the imminent doom. 
This is Karassimeon's APOCALYDISCO, the Glitter part of the project.

Apocalydisco

Starting in a nice musical vibe for this first WWMix episode of the year 2024, we are delighted to receive Ben Olayinka a talented Dj whose influence navigate from disco, soul and R&B to Afrobeat and Amapiano.

When Ben was a kid, his dad used to drive him around the lake in the back of a truck, looking up at the stars, listening to Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti - normal dad stuff. Many countries, homes, languages, and family constellations later, Ben is proud of who he's settled down as - a big, funny guy, comfortable in his own skin, who loves a good bassline.

Today, Ben is the proud papa of Spati Party Berlin, a place for the neighborhood to meet, where kids, dogs, and people of all colors and shapes are welcome to come enjoy being themselves. Like everything Ben does, it's not about being seen, wearing fancy stuff, or even about looking good - it's just about enjoying being in your own body and appreciating the little things in life.

Ben is also a fiery afrobeat and disco dj, part of the dj collective In Living Color, and is just getting started at 32 years young, setting dancefloors ablaze and loving every second of this beautiful thing called life.

Colapso is a Paris-based DJ who started in 2018 as a passionate digger and co-founder of the Apéro Notturno collective.

Colapso about the mix:

'Several years ago when I started DJing, I used to play a lot of House Music. I've always enjoyed it, but my musical preferences changed over the years to Italo Disco-related genres.

In 2023, I started to dig a lot of tracks of the Pre-House era which are inspired by Italo Disco – i.e. Proto House – when producers were using the LinnDrum and the DMX from Italo Disco – they would then replace them by the 909.

More recent tracks are blending Italo Disco and House together, and I really enjoy them. A few producers are doing this – such as Emmet Read, Demi Requisimo and Donald's House.

This mix is about bringing the spotlight to this genre and these artists'

Matteo Mussoni and Nicola Zucchi were raised on the disco romance of the 1970s and early 80s. Channelling their shared love of music machines and mirrorballs, the duo founded Sparkling Attitude. Their debut EP draws on the magic of italo disco, the synthesizer soundtracks of the silverscreen and the open stretches of the Italian coastline. “Dov’eri Sabato Sera” recounts the tale of unrequited love; youth, possibility and dashed hopes play out to a crisp rhythm and wistful melodies. Those heart-strained notes then take the limelight for the instrumental version, analogue strings soaring to impassioned heights. The flames keep burning on the flip with “Melodico Romantico”. Disco infused, bold and brazen beats are made-up in dark rouges and effervescent greens as breathy vocals whisper. Mussoni and Zucchi dive deep into their machines for the curtain close. Inspired by Japanese culture, made in Italy, daring key stabs and astral echoes are draped in a late-night groove for this glittering finale. Joyous sounds from a Sparkling Attitude.
