SNOE is celebrating its 20th release with a big bang! One of the hottest up and coming names in electronic music joins the label family with a proper kick ass EP. We are talking about none other that Dateless with his “They Like To Funk EP”. Dateless is known for his innovative music drawing inspiration from genres reflecting his South American heritage, and has led to him release on labels such as Dirtybird, CR2 and Snatch!. 

The title track “They Like To Funk” immediately strikes a funky and fun note living of its bouncy bassline that brings about proper attitude. “The Slammer” is a go hard or go home tune getting down and dirty with an addictive groove that hits you right in the guts, combined with an almost hypnotic vocal and melody. Rounding up the EP is “I Ain’t Worried”. Again, focus lies on the groove, building a perfect round and rolling frame for the driving hi hats and vocal elements coming together in a monster track just waiting to take the dance floor to the next level. We present Audiojack’s ‘Senses EP’ this April, which comes with great remixes from Reset Robot and dubspeeka.

Audiojack say “The idea for Senses came from watching a documentary; we sampled the narrator and edited the recording, splicing together different words and sentences to create something new. On the Road was made after reading Jack Kerouac’s book of the same name, then digging deeper to find other players of that time like Ken Kesey who went on the road sampling LSD with the Merry Pranksters.  We ended up at Albert Hoffman who first synthesised LSD by mistake. He's sampled in the track describing his first experience on the drug.”

Il Bosco (@christian-wood)transports us to the glory days of iconic Manchester night, Friends and Family, for the next instalment of our mix series.   A hip-hop, all-vinyl session; pulling together all the favourite records he used to play back then for a very special 60-minutes.

Taking place at the Roadhouse, a sweaty, low-ceilinged basement, the Fat City Records crew ran ‘Friends and Family’ weekly from 2000-2009. In that time it cultivated a huge family-feel fan base, and a solid roster of resident DJs, many of which have no doubt shaped UK club culture as we know it. Alongside Il Bosco, Jon K, MC Kwasi, DJ Riton, Ross Allen and more regularly took to the decks, as well as guest appearances from likes of Madlib, Mr Thing and J Rocc.

From Friends and Family, Il Bosco went on to found @red-laser-records: a Manchester-proud, Italo fusion platform that advocates “Italo Missiles, analogue chuggers, boogie bombs and acid heat”. As a DJ he’s notched up appearances worldwide, most popularly associated with the Italo sounds of his label.
 
This mix takes him back to his roots. Whilst perhaps best listened to as intended: crammed into a sweaty basement, for now, cranking it loud on a bank holiday in the sunshine will definitely do.
