Summer 2013 I was working on making some recordings strictly on a 4 track cassette recorder, much like I would’ve in my teenage years. It was originally set to be the “Distances” tape that came out on Bathetic last year but my laptop was stolen and the tape was destroyed I thought this was gone forever but I found this song on an older hard drive

I will stay up late and dig my own trench
I’ll ask all the questions they never present
And it’s sick and its vain and it’s hard to explain
To question the role or the play of the game

Tell what you are to be an American
I can’t live by your words and remain the person which I came
They wont tell me what I am to be an American
