Synchronistically, several traveling musicians happened to be staying at Onedoorland during that time.

I had just returned from a two-week trip back home to Canada for the first time in two years, so on my return back to Portland I was ready to make some music. And to be surrounded by so many amazing musicians who I admire and respect was a dream come true. 

Inspiration was in the air.
 
We started with the late Josiah Akoya's elven flute magic (Rest in Peace brother.). After that magic was recorded, the bass and synth lines came very naturally. One by one, the 3 female vocalists entered the booth, each performing 3 unique, and completely improvised vocal tracks. It ended up that three women sang vocals and three men played the instrumental parts, reflecting the two triangles in the sky, in harmony and balance.

It was a unique moment where I could see and feel that the harmony of the spheres was mirroring the musical alignment in the studio. 

And boom.

Emanation was born. 

The name of this track speaks to the source of all matter and life that endlessly streams music, truth, beauty and wisdom from the center of every particle in the Universe, all the time.

“Stand With Us to Bless the Waters” is our prayer of solidarity for the Lakota Sioux Nation, & all the Water Protectors who have converged in North Dakota Standing Rock Reservation at the Dakota Access Pipeline. This is the first time in centuries that all the indigenous nations of Turtle Island (America) have come together in unity & guardianship for our Earth. This unprecedented tribal convergence has been catalyzed by the pipeline, but is representative of something much larger & more profound than a protest. 

In support for the situation in North Dakota, Amani Friend (Liquid Bloom) and Summit Jaffe (Numatik) were both separately inspired to create music for water and prayer.  Coincidentally, the two tracks were both finished at the same time on fall equinox and they were also written in the same key, making it ideal to interweave them into a one unified piece of music. While sitting in the New Mexico Hot Springs after Unify festival, Amani and Summit had the inspiration to curate this remix album. Producers from all over the world, like Earth Cry, Mystral, Soulacybin, Martin’s Garden, Ecometric, Gumi, and Twin Shape added their unique psychedelic downtempo flavors. Native elders like Black Fox Pomani, and Yona FrenchHawk imbued the music with intentional water prayers. United together, we humbly offer this medicinal musical journey in support and healing. Water is Life!

Also you will hear clips of the Muslim call for prayer and Jewish Davening (praying) as a statement of peace and unification. We are human beings experiencing life second by second. Medicina is a song about deep journies… This sample was provided by an artist in Pucallpa who is the son of a powerful shamanic matriarch of the tribe and has inherited her medicine ways, often painting the visions he is gifted from the plant medicine.  The sample was collected by Critical Beats as part of a collection of recordings aimed at preserving the magic of the Amazon.
In "Medicina", he is speaking specifically about the journey into the song of Ayahuasca. The journey brings you inside yourself. So, close your eyes and embark on a voyage of self discovery. Feel the words speaking of ancient wisdom… Words that transcend language. You don’t need to understand the magic to feel its power. Que le vaya bien..

La Medicina

This is a cover (not a remix) of Clint Mansell's "Death Is The Road To Awe" from the motion picture The Fountain.  The original song is incredibly inspirational and in our opinion one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed.  We decided to undertake the vast project of covering it and adapting it into a "dance music" format.  We incorporate elements of both dubstep and psychedelic trance, two genres that are very powerful and blend together quite harmoniously.  This piece features live violin by Valentin Santana and piano/guitar by Lauren Keys.  It was produced and recorded by Liam Shy who also provided the electronic/synth elements and percussion.  This piece is meant as an homage to the wonderful Clint Mansell, the Kronos Quartet and The Fountain.  We humbly present to you our rendition, ready to take the dancefloor to new emotional depths, and psychedelic heights...

Wei Chi Field (Pronounced Way-Chee Field) literally translating to "protective energy field,” is an eclectic music project lead by Dan Yolles that aims to connect listeners to their own energy field a well as the community’s, via vibrant vibrations and infinite soundscapes, intended to bring about movement, deep expression and inner heeling. Many of the sounds woven in the music are recorded from moments and experiences around the world, especially from nature and cultural hot spots that are then transformed into the fluvial beats and melodic motifs. But perhaps what makes Wei Chi Field unique is their element of organic/live instrumentation supported by Dan, Samuel Wexler, and other guest musicians. This love infused music is intended to take listeners on expansive journeys that reach desert lands, underwater oases, remote jungles and rain forests, the cosmos, and the depths within. Wei Chi Field gently cradles your energetic being, presenting your mind with sacred harmonies and intricate composition to grasp your body with deep down to mid-tempo bass rhythms. 

Wei-Chi Field performs solo sets and with any of the listed musicians.
