This episode features three interviews with Australian music acts - Witch Hats, Mere Women and Cool Sounds. All three acts are different, but similar in the sense that they are currently making moves in the Australian scene.

Witch Hats will be releasing their third full-length LP Deliverance on July 1 through Behind The Beat Records. I speak to singer/guitarist Kris Buscombe about the record and it's emotionally charged outpouring of noise.

Mere Women released a split 7" with Gold Class earlier in the year. I spoke to Amy Wilson about where the song came from and what's on the cards for the future.

Cool Sounds released their latest album Dance Moves on June 24 through Deaf Ambitions. I called Nick Kearton to talk about the creation of the record and how the group honed in on their slick sound.

This is the sixth episode of the Weirdo Wasteland Podcast! 

It’s been an exciting couple of months in the Australian music scene, with some of 2016's best releases coming after mid-year. This episode features three interviews with some bands that not only have recently emerged with new music, but are doing amazing things in separate genres. I have the pleasure of presenting interviews with Holy Balm, I Heart Hiroshima and Unity Floors - bands that have amassed strong followings within Australia and are currently in the midst of some really exciting developments.

Holy Balm recently released their second long player 'Activity' through Chapter Music and are currently in the midst of a quick national tour. I spoke to Jonathan 'Yoni' Hochman over the phone about how the band pieced together the new album, how their approach to composing has changed since 2012 and the current landscape of the thriving electronic scene that they helped pioneer. 


I Heart Hiroshima is a Brisbane band that made significant waves from 2006 to 2009, releasing a string of EPs and a couple of brilliant albums. The pop-punk trio went on a hiatus after their second LP The Rip in 2009 and have recently re-emerged with their first new material in more than five years.

Unity Floors are on the cusp of releasing their second album, 'Life Admin' through Popfrenzy. Following on from two exciting singles 'Moving to Melbourne' and 'Give and Take', the duo will be dropping the new record on Friday September 23 - hopefully maintaining their streak of creating enjoyable and life affirming garage punk.
